Garmin talk

myDashboard is now available when you login to your myGarmin account. Requires new Garmin Communicator v2.71 installed (there will be a link).

It apparently found a firmware update above v3.40 for my nuvi 765 which I'm downloading to SD Card (I have no idea if it's actually valid or not as WebUpdater said no update over 3.40 was available).

We shall see...

I just got a new Nuvi 765T. I was wondering what the best picture size is for attaching photos to the favorites in my list? has anyone tried this and if so, I'd appreciate any input!

I am copying MP3 files to a SD card to play on my 750 on a trip. I've copied a few on there and it seems to work well. What I'm experiencing now is that it takes forever for it to find the MP3 files. Is this Normal. Could my structure be too complex?

I have a csv file I created and I can't set it up to be a tour guide so it will alert me when I am in a certain radius of the location. I have tried everything. I have looked at many other posts and have tried every suggestion and it still does not work. I renamed the file to have TourGuide in it and still nothing. It's a .csv file and I am loading it onto a Nuvi 660.

I am trying to install the Pets Welcome, Texas file and the POI loader says it is invalid. I installed several other state's files with no problem. The only difference I see is that the Texas file is quite a bit bigger. I tried both the .gpx and a .cvx file I generated from the .gpx file with Excel. What could be the problem? I am using a nuvi 350 if that makes a difference.

I ordered a Garmin Nuvi 500 a couple of days ago and I am expecting it later this week. Anyway, I was thinking of the things I want to do once it arrives. so far I have come up with the following:

-Update firmware to include Text To Speech capability

-Update maps to CN 2010 (assuming it comes with CN 2009)

-Transfer favorites from Mapsource

-Load POIs from here

When I create my own POI files they are exactly what I want. Just the basic information:

Name
Address
Phone Number

When I download other people's files, I am noticing that although the ".csv" file doesn't show it, there is extra information showing up on my unit.

ie:

Name
Alert:
Distance:
etc.
Address

I want to find out which map I have. How do I find it out on the unit without connecting to the computer?

Anybody try this version for stability yet?
Just wondering before I update, since there were many issues with past versions.
Also wondering if the long boot ups were fixed, which seemed to be related to large trip log file.
If you regularly cleared the trip log, unit would boot in a reasonably amount of time.

Hello everyone, i have been lurking in the shadows learning a lot about my new Nuvi 255.

I have two questions. First of all is it possible replace the roads on one map with those of another.

for example I would like to replace the roads on my topo maps with the ones from city navigator.

Changes made from version 4.70 to 4.80:

* Corrected issue with TTS voice stuttering.
* Corrections to Language Guide.
* Correction to MAD Maps routing.
* Improvements to phone number/contact display.

Changes made from version 4.60 to 4.70:

* Added power off for FM transmitter after 5 seconds of non-use.

so i added gig harbor and covington to the april update of the csv costco file, if someone wants me to upload it... i can... the WI Middleton was also missing

How accurate is the nuvi when showing miles per hour below 5?

I see that the nuvi shows miles per hour with one decimal point when the miles per hour is below 10. My father does agriculture work and it would be nice know in some cases how fast the tractor is moving down the tenth digit (i.e. 3.1 miles per hour vs. 3.7 miles per hour).

Amazon has the nuvi 200 with Mexico maps on sale for $139.99.

It may be worth it if you need Mexico maps as the maps alone sell for around $100.

This morning when I hooked up my GPS before heading off to work (I always listen to audio books during the drive) I received a warning I've never seen before. The entire screen displayed a warning that my maps are over a year old and should be updated. I was quite surprised.

Need help. please. I have nuvi 755T I donwloaded the school zones in manual mode (1320 ft). Turned on proximity points. So I typed a address and test drive it pass by the school and it didnt give me warning. Why is that? do I have to set up or missed something?

I see ads and references to companies, such as AutoNavDirect offering Garmin Lifetime maps. These seem to be at a better price than getting them direct from Garmin.

Has anyone had experience getting lifetime updates, in this manner? Do you go to the Garmin site after to get the updates?

I have a NUVI 350, not that should make a difference.

I have used a Tomtom addin for my Palm phone for years and it would "warn" me whenever I was within a specific distance of a designated POI type. I recently upgraded to a Garmin 760 an am trying to get it to do the same. I have set up several custom POIs and manually loaded them onto the Garmin along with a proxmity alert distance.

so i edited the POI file from Or/Wa since it only contains the data for the vancouver areas.. and is kinda out of date to include to seattle area including kent, bellevue, tacoma... yada... if anyone wants me to upload it i can... i have to work out a little bit of kinks... (difference between yahoo and google coordinates)

I have a garmin nuvi (285W) and once you zoom in to were everything is really close on the map it start showing the POI and there icons. I wanted to know if there was a way to show all the POI when viewing the map from further away? Also is there a way to see the POI when you are driving in the “3D” mode?
