I don't think this has been mentioned here yet. The firmware for most eTrexes has been updated as of May 12.

Changes from version 2.80 to version 3.00:

-Correct time scale of altimeter chart (Vista only).

-Add support for maps greater than 2 GB.

-Modify track log function for steady barometer output at power on ( Vista only ).

I'm trying to load custom POIs (with custom icons) into my Garmin 855. I've tried through POI Loader and MapSource. I'm having no luck. what am i missing?!

Note: i tried Walmarts first... and i do see them, but the others i've downloaded (ie: McDonalds) are not there.

I've tried erasing all and starting over... still only walmart. and none with the custom icons.

I have a Garmin 750 and the routing on it is entirely different than my older C320. The 750 will basically avoid major highways and take secondary roads to most locations out of the GTA northbound. I have set the route to both Faster Time and Shortest Distance and it doesn't make any difference. Also I have set the exceptions to include everything but Highways and still no difference.

...might want to check your local Walmart. I just picked up the 2009 North America updater DVD for $45 on clearance.

Looks like I'm figuring out much of what my Garmin 660 can do and just in time to help my father with his 265 which gets delivered this week from Amazon.

I just purchased my first GPS, a Garmin Nuvi 265WT. Is there a way to set it up so that the icons of my POI's show up on the map as I'm driving? As an example I downloaded the POI of all the Walmarts. I thought that as I approached a Walmart that I would see the icon on the screen but that's not the case.

My dad just purchased his first Nuvi, a 265WT. He ocassionally travels to Europe and wanted to know if this unit would work over there.

I believe there is a UK map that can be purchased. However, if he does not purchase that, is there a base map on the unit that will show you basic, main streets, highways, cities, etc?

I'm not sure what to tell him, but I know someone here will know.

i was wondering if anyone here has used the external mic. i heard it does enhance the clarity of the sound. can any user of one subject or approve of that?

also, does anybody know where it attached to? im not a big fan of wires so.. i hope that isnt an issue.

I'm a little confused by something when using the POI loader to load my red light and speed cameras. There are two things I need to ask about.

I am awaiting my new Nuvi 855 and have some questions. With the millions of POI's in the unit, how do I know which ones I should install. Do I have to navigate through them all or can I safely install what may be a duplicate and let the Nuvi recognize if it is or not. Will it tell me it's already installed?

Recently returned from a road trip from Dallas to Seattle and Nuvi 760 worked flawlessly. On my return I wanted to update POI's and the web updater noted several updates. I updated to North American Map version 2010.10 and software version 4.80.

I was in Edmonton today and was looking for a Tim Hortons coffee shop on my new kna-g510 and there was non found,I thought Timmies was more popular than that. Hopefully I will be able to put my custom pois in and then find coffee!

I went on a road trip with my new unit this morning. I find it works quite well,the only issue i found is the navigation voice is fairly quiet you have to listen closely to hear your direction prompt. There is a setting for the unit to make a chime, Before a voice prompt for a bit of an advance warning to listen up and to check the screen.

I just had a Kenwood ddx814 with a kna-g510 for navigation installed in my vehicle on friday.. How do i find out which version of firmware unit has? I am not able to get my custom pois that i have installed in my 760 to install in my g510 unit just says them over and over,I tried sd card and usb drive with the same results. It appears I am doing something wrong.

The rest area on I10 east bound. last rest area to phoenix, about 8 miles west of Tonopah. When I pass that location did not give me alert. Just wondering maybe its not on the file or the coordinate is way off. but all the rest areas between palm spring to phoenix east and west bound are fine.

Does anybody know how to change a garmin nuvi 660 from the north west area to the north east area? I updated my map and the gps did not give me the option to choose my location, it defaulted to the north west. It normally would not be a problem but I live in NJ and NJ is not in the north west map file. Go figure.
