Now that I have a Garmin Nuvi 500 and have a 4 gHz micro SDHC card on order, I am wondering if there is any way to estimate the number of POI files that I can add. I realize that it is going to be just an approximation, of course, but I have a lot of POIs on my Garmin StreetPilot 2730 and I am hoping to add as many, or more, on the Nuvi 500 as I have on the 2730.

Why is it that I dont get an alert when I am driving by Wal-Mart and Shoprite? I have those POI on my 260W. I checked for the proximity alert box but its not on my Nuvi Setting menu.

I have downloaded the City Navigator NT 2010 maps to my computer on the c: drive and then moved it to a external hard drive. Once I run the program on the external it wants to use my c: drive for the files. My c: drive is full, so it will not let me do the install. I moved and opened the file on my external drive because I knew that my c: drive was full.

A colleague just bought a new Nuvi 760. Beautiful GPS!!!

I offered to help her download and install POI from the POI Factory.

All went well, but when we were done when we went to the main screen to navigate, the maps refused to draw. The navigation screen had everything else but no maps!

Real bummer for brand new user to Garmin.

Ever since Garmin switched screens to the new black ones, they seem to be fingerprint magnets. I didn't seem to have this problem with the 350/650 Nuvis.

I tried iClean by Monster and it works very well to keep the screen clear of fingerprints. I also use it on my laptop, lcd screen and lcd tv. The spray leaves a slick surface to the screens and keeps them cleaner longer.

Sorry if this has been covered before. I just received a MapSource DVD from Garmin for free. I've installed MapSource and CNNA NT 2009 that comes with it. I'd like to know what is the latest 2009 version. Please note that I know CNNA NT 2010 released in April 2009 is newer.

Just created a few routes using the line tool (not road) in MyMaps. I plan to transfer it to a nuvi via TakItWithMe when I purchase one in July.

Would the nuvi calculate appropriate routes based on the points?

I bought a Garmin 255W. How can I get the coordinates from a location stored in my Favorites file to give to a friend who wants to go there too.

Wal-mart
Nation parks
five guys burgers
state parks
but when I go to extras - custom POIs
National parks & Five guys is all that is listed
other than All categories which just has the the add. of five guys.

I'm saving on a sd card if that matters.

I just learned that you could send an address you looked up with Google Maps or Map Quest to your Garmin Nuvi. However, I'm really struggling with something.

Hi. I'm new here. I just received my Nuvi 855 today and updated and registered it. I am told that I have 60 days to receive my NuMaps update. It sounds like one just came out in April. Should I hold off till early July (just before my trip) or should I go ahead and update them now? Is there a chance of another update coming before July?

So I have been using the Proclips for my Garmin Nuvi, with great success. I even have a proclip for my Nokia E71 that holds the phone upright for a good GPS signal and charges it. The problem is brackets for certain cars. I have one for the MINI Cooper and it works well. Can't find a solution for the Lotus Elise. Does anyone have a Lotus with a good way to mount the GPS securely?

I've had a StreetPilot 2710 for a long time... very used to it.

The other day, I picked up a Nuvi 780 to replace it. The 2710 will go into my wife's car (she wont use it a lot)...

My first experience any of the Nuvi's is the 780.

There are already a few things that are different.

o StreetPilot had a remote (really liked that)

I bought a 760 in Nov. 2008 and just now bought my wife one as well. I am doing a free update to 2010 maps on her 760, so my question is........is there a way to install the download on my 760 as well? Thanks

Does anyone know how to get to the Diagnostic Screen/Mode on a Garmin StreetPilot 7200/7500 ?

I know there is a diagnostic screen for many other Garmion models and I would think that there is a way to get to it on the 7200/7500 too.

I have tried some of the methods which work for other models, but they seem to differ based on the model.

I downloaded and successfully added POI files to my Nuvi 760. How do I bring those up on the device itself?

I was wondering is there any way to save the trip logs on my nuvi 500/550 which I guess is another term garmin uses that means track log.

Volkswagen and Garmin are developing an attachment system that would be built into VWs. Called "Click and Ride" it offers the convenience of taking your GPS with you and adding updates, but with the look of a factory installed GPS. It's a dealer-installed mount and wiring kit that hides the wires.

I did a "Search" and it seems I SHOULD be able to load my POIs onto an SD Card and have my Nuvi 660 read the POIs from the SD Card by pressing "Extras" and finding the POIs there.

Other people said that when they boot their Nuvi w/ a SD card loaded with POIs, they get a screen asking if the user wants to transfer the POI files to the GPS memory. (I'd prefer to leave the POIs on the Card, BTW)
