If the unit supports routes

If the unit supports routes (can be checked on the garmin page) then it can get them from Mapsource - or Mapquest, or Google.

Would that be under "Maps &

Would that be under "Maps & Memory" called "routes"?

Routes

Yes, under maps and memory and i really means "the number of routes that can be saved".

Those routes can be created and saved by mapsource or interactively at the GPS and saved.

In somthing like a Nuvi 7xx, it may say you can save 10 routes. That is actually the number that are currently active and selectable at the gps.

If you build routes in mapsource you can have as many routes as you want because mapsource saves them to a file. Then at the GPS you can selectively call them in from that file (up to 10 max). You can use 10 different ones by deleting some you've chosen and calling up others from that saved file.

Routes never get deleted from the saved file so you can bring them back at any time.

Anytime you choose and active a route it takes on the name "current route" which you can also modify interactively at the GPS and save with a different name if you like.
