Nuvi 200W Sounds

Are there any way to add voice commands other than
those listed on Garmin updates?

Oregon 400c does not display Bouy Numbers

I just got my new 400c and have been playing around with it.

I have noticed that the g2 Bluecharts on the 400c do not diaplay the Bouy/Marker numbers.

Such as can #8, or Daymarker #3 etc.

I have it set to display the "MOST" detail on the maps/charts and I zoom in as far as it will go and still no numbers.

This is a serious problem if you are using it for any sort of navigation.

Lifetime updates & Mapsource

I'd possibly be interested in subscribing to lifetime updates provided that Mapsource City Navigator as well as the GPS gets updated as well.

Has anyone any experience with this?

Ever get the white screen?

How many people got the white screen on their garmin?

..and how much did it take to get it fixed.

POI Files. What Next?

I am new to GPS and noticed my garmin Nuvi 760 didn't have an awful lot of good POI's. I just downloaded all the Walmart locations in the U.S. and now don't understand how to get them onto my device? When it was done downloading it created an excel file. How do I get these loaded onto the GPS device? Thanks to anyone who can help?

The "Hummer"

Lifetime maps appear to be transferable under two conditions according to Garmin

Saw this posted on another forum today and thought this was pretty good news for those of us who purchased the lifetime maps and for those who were trying to decide if they should. grin

"For those like myself who are wondering about Lifetime Update and lost/stolen or defective systems and transfers, here's what I just got from Garmin (direct quote):

MapSource City navigator Europe

Does anyone know how good the coverage is? Can you type in an address and have it direct you to that point? I was looking at the Nuvi 275t or the 270. I plan on traveling in Germany, Belgium, Switzerland,Sweden, Poland and Denmark.

Changing warning text on 760.....

So is the final verdict that the American text is hard-coded in the firmware and you need to switch to the British English text file to be able to change the warning text displayed when the 760 turns on?

thanx,

Updated SRFBldr and ADded some vehicles

Found an issue with the 2D section in the SRFBldr and fixed it. I Also added an Unsharp Mask to give the pics more definition when the re-sampling blurs it too much.

Nuvi-3760 *** Magellan-5045

Unknown Feature

Didn't know this about my 250W. If you don't click agree at start up and then don't even click view maps, it will switch to map view after you start to move. I did know that the warning agreement will go away same as my 330 but I always had to click view map on that model. Makes for one less button to click when you head out.

Nuvi 255W troubles

My dad about a month ago bought a nuvi 255w after I reccomended it to him. For a month it worked fine until I moved back to Michigan and tried to make it better for him. First, I registered it for him on the Garmin site. We found out it was eligible for the updated 2009 map so I did that for him. The next thing I did was to install the Eco deal off the web site. Kinda fun to play with.

GTM20 Update available

Greetings,

Besides the new 2010 Garmin City Navigator map being available, a new GTMxx firmware update is available for traffic receivers, at least for my nuvi 7x0 series:

Changes from version 5.30 to version 5.50:
Enhance subscription activation process to support subscriptions that apply to multiple countries.

City Navigator 2010 North America Now Available

According to another forum, the City Navigator NT 2010 maps are now available for download (file name Garmin_RMU_CNNANT2010.exe).

I just got a 760 today, so I'll be downloading the new map later tonight and reporting back.

EDIT: Looks like chewbacca was the first to report the new maps in the 2009 MAP UPDATES discussion at 00:48 this a.m.

GPX and nuvi

the 255w has a gpx directory. In this directory is one file. Is this the file I have created? or was it created by Garmin initial load?

I have removed and loaded poi files to the poi directory on the 255w, and that has worked fine. Just wanted to see if gpx is handled in the same way.

XM weather less-detailed recently?

Has anyone else noticed a recent lack of detail in their XM weather data? I have a Zumo 550 and have been using XM weather/traffic (NavTraffic subscription) for a bit over a year now. Noticed over the past 1-2 months the weather data seems to have less detail (forecast info, high/low temp data) for the same reporting stations I usually see forecast and other data for.

Changing Routings

Is there a way to change the route that is programed in my Nuvi? I usually travel on a less traveled road than the GPS thinks I should be on so I continually get recalculating and wanting me to turn off of the road that I want to be on. I would like the unit to know where I want to be.

nuvi 780 or 785 ?

I have read with much interest many of the posts about the differences, good and bad, between the 780 and 785.

To date, it seems the single largest complaint people have about the 785/765 over the 780/760 is the lack of detail shown on the maps.

Garmin EcoRoute

Has anybody downloaded and used the EcoRoute from the Garmin.com site? What has been your experience with the EcoRoute?

MSN Direct Traffic questions

I live in Hawaii, and have an MSN Direct receiver for my Nuvi 205. Up until recently, I could use all the MSN services except for traffic, but very recently it seems as if they've added traffic coverage for Honolulu.

Supposedly I'm now supposed to get both Traffic Incidents and Traffic Speeds. I see the Incidents, but am wondering what the Traffic Speeds part is supposed to look like.
