I am about to buy a new Acura MDX with built-in navigation. I have been using a Garmin NUVI 660 for the past few years and like it. Does anyone have any experience with the Acura navigation system? is it time to retire my Nuvi? Thanks.

I own a Garmin Nuvi 650 GPS and I have not usd it for a year now. So I recharge it to give it a boost but after charging it, the screen freezes. I press the power button and it asks for my security password and I can't even type my password as the cursor blinks and I can't type. I tried resetting it and it did not solve the problem.

my new 1390 is on current firmware
but when i set my home location
or any favorite poi, i will get a black dot.
i read here that it is a bug
but any solution yet?
doesnt matter if i tried to change to house icon or other , i still get black dot.

Seems I cannot get any sub categories to stick. As an example I would have a favorite named "Overtime sports". High-lite that in favorites. I then edit that poi and make a new category named Bicycle. Returning to Favorites, it doesn't show up. So I create another sub category in Overtime sports called bicycle1. Now returning to favorites it shows up.

Can an alert sound be associated with the Junction view popup on a 2350?

I don't have the FM transmitter cable for my 1490t. I use the normal charger. The traffic icon is not displayed on the main screen. The bluetooth icon is. If I get the FM transmitter charger cable will that automatically activate the FM traffic function? Do I have to pay extra for that service? The manual said if the unit is activated and I have the compatible FM transmitter cable its automatic.

I am trying to load a total of 140 files from this site. Everything loads OK. When I WHERE TO>EXTRAS>Custom POIs, I scroll through all the files. As I count them, my unit will only show 101 files.

I did this like 3 years ago and when I downloaded the Walmart file for instance, it showed up under my "extras" and then in "poi files" as "Walmart" and then I would open that and there were my nearest stores. Now when I try this instead of one heading labeled "Walmart" I get all my Walmart stores listed. I want to open the poi files and see a list of categories (ie.

This is the situation, my Nuvi 660 had 2008 maps. I was attempting to update to 2012. Hooked up the Nuvi to PC, deleted the gmapprom.img to make room for the new map. Began copying the new map to the Garmin directory. About midway I received a message that Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and must close.

Has anyone used the trip planning with the schedule?

I have scheduled several routes for my vacation but have never used this feature before.

Does anyone know what will happen if I don't stick with my time limit?

I recently upgraded to a new Nuvi - the 1390LMT (from a Nuvi 205W). I have also moved to a Mac as the host computer. When looking for software for the Mac I found Basecamp from Garmin as a free download. I've played with it a little bit, but since my GPS only supports one way point (as far as I know), what is the value of using Basecamp? Would it be a waste of time learning it?

Has Garmin made things worse with the latest version of MapSource (from other posts I read it is no longer being updated)and carry it over into BaseCamp?

Can someone help me figure out how to load the rer area poi into a garmin 1300.

Every now and then when I log on to Garmin's Dashboard support page, it says there is a "software update" for my 855. I dutifully follow the directions, and the webpage will then say "up to date."

But the firmware versions, traffic receiver software version, GPS chipset version, etc. remain the same.

Are these updates actually doing anything? If so, what?

My garmin nuvi 750 stopped working a while back. When plugged in, the Garmin logo shows for 6 seconds, then the screen goes blank for 2 seconds, logo appears again for 6 seconds, and goes blank again for 2 seconds. It keeps doing this until the battery dies. It won't acquire satellites nor can I turn it off.

Looking at their new series and the nüvi50LM and what's in the box category there's a choice of two preloaded map versions.

1- City Navigator® NT data for lower 49 states, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and Bahamas or

2- City Navigator® NT data for lower 49 states, Canada, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and Bahamas

by replacing the mp3 file with a wav file. Just wondering if this is possible to do

I have installed several different POI files on my 1490LMT. Each time, I give the file a unique name to keep my POIs separated. The all show up in the \Poi directory and each file has a .gpi extension. The files (or folders) will appear individually on the Garmin in the Extras...Custom POIs. My question is if there is a way to arrange these files to appear in a specific order.

1. Does anyone have a list of the traffic channels that maps to the FM frequencies? The GTM Status page lists channels, but not the radio frequency. Because of frequent channel changes, I haven't been able to map this.
