As posted in the subject line, I am just wondering if anybody here has installed any third party apps on their Garmin devices? After watching this YouTube video, I am considering trying this.

Does anyone have the DEM option turned on to display the "Digital Elevation Map" on their device?

Not sure exacty what it does or how turbing it on would affect the display.

Has anyone had any experience of POI databases for Europe, similar to the RLC and Speed Cameras ones on here.

I used Tomtom's android app on my recent trip to Ireland and I found I ended up with almost constant warnings of "Speed Control" zones but no warnings of actual cameras.

I mentioned low clearance solutions in a recent post. I ran across this on the Garmin website:

The Following Devices Include the RV/Camper Profile Feature:

RV 660 LMT RV Navigator

As old as it is, my 1450 will not power up. I have not used it in a long time. When I pluged it in, it showed the Garmin logo and then the green progress bar barely started then nothing. Blank.
Seems I had this problem before and I tried same fix as before. Plug into wall outlet for a long length of time. No help this go around.
Guess Ill stick with my phone apps for now.
Any ideas?

Note that this seems to apply at the moment to TopoActive maps and not necessarily to City Navigator maps

While downloading the TopoActive NA 2026.10 map update for a GPS, I noticed that the usual location for the cached map downloads was not being stored in the location that I was used to having to delete the downloaded data from which was:

C:/ProgramData/GARMIN/CoreService/Downloads/Map

I think a lot of individuals are using older versions of Windows. Someone on the Garmin forums reports successfully using Garmin Express 7.28 on Windows 7 using the utility at https://vxkex.com/

Note that at present the individual doesn’t mention a successful map update using the workaround.

I have, or at least had, TopoActive on my Garmin Zumo XT, which is a motorcycle GPS, not an automobile GPS. If you have an Edge 540/840/1040, Forerunner 970 or Fenix 7, you may want to be careful.

I have never found TopoActive to be very worthwhile for my activities.

I updated to City Navigator North America 2027.1 a number of weeks ago.

I still have two City Navigator North America NT 2026.1 files.

Can I safely delete both of those?

Poi do not display on my Garmin DriveSmart 66 EX, they use to be displayed and now they don’t probably after an update.

I have tried everything I could think of, no success.

Anyone has an idea of the cause?

I had to switch to another surface pro (windows 11 rather than 10), when I attempted to download my favorite poi files, I discovered they are not showing up in my Garmin file folder. The previous week is still reflected in my poi file folder. Any suggestions? Is the problem in my poi factory download process or is it in the downloaded file process?

I recall looking at a RAM 1500 some years back and it had an in-dash Garmin. I thought it would be pretty nice until I heard how much it would cost to update the City Navigator Maps on it.

My wife and I are on the road in our RV. This morning, we were looking for 21 Campers Circle, Ashland City TN 37015, which is the campground we are staying at. I found it interesting that my Garmin DriveSmart 65 (with Amazon Alexa) using City Navigator could not find it. Google Maps did find it.

My wife and I are on a road trip right now in our Jayco RV. I have the Garmin DriveSmart 65 with Amazon Alexa navigating as well as Google Maps on a Sony XAV-AX8000. They definitely do select some different routes. Usually they are just minor differences, though.

Hello everyone, as you all have try ed factory reset as i did also after garmin support said, my old bc40 stopped working after a couple years, so i brought a new bc40 camera, i couldn't get it to connect, after getting frustrated, i went into add a new camera, instead of unsparing the one that didn't connect for some reason it was listed, ok go to add new camera, go through the steps again, mine

I posted on here recently that there are no displayed speed limits while using Open Map Chest. I got that from the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) area of the Open Map Chest website. However, I have noticed that speed limits are displayed on the screen while driving with my Garmin Nuvi 3597.
