I just upgraded my Garmin to a Garmin nüvi 285W/285WT for $100 form Amazon.

Something's going on with my 755T. Sometimes the power is lost. It's not at the 12V plug end, that's solid. I think the cradle to GPS connection is OK. I think it's the power to cradle connection that's at fault. If I wiggle that power gets restored, but only sometimes.

Any suggestions?

Anyone figured out how to send favorite way points to the garmin wireless with Google maps? I find the address on Google maps,but instead of the "send " (in the upper right)option I see Print , email or link.... No Send

Has anyone had problems with mapsource and windows 7. I have loaded the original c/d from garmin, then went to the downloads on garmins site and downloaded the latest mapsource file, it looks like it downloaded but it wont update to the latest file. Does it take a patch or something to get it to update, or am i not doing something in win7 to get it to take it. any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a few POI's loaded with various proximity alerts. The alerts come up only when one is on the same street, or the selected route passes the POI.

Is there an option to have the alert show up based on RADIUS?

Two months old unit has intermittent problem when the unit
wont turn on and times when it turns on,it wont turn off
without waiting till it is ready to turn off. Searching
history finds similiar problems some time back, any thing
current before I go back to Radio Shack to look for answers?

As others have pointed out, you can get free lifetime traffic with the optional GTM 25 receiver...commonly sold on eBay for around $50.00

I have the nuvi 205w given as a Christmas gift from my son. I love it and use it everyday. My question is .. almost everytime i connect to mygarmin (once every two weeks)there seems to be a new software update (says firmware update while updating). Is this normal and ok to do every time what can they be updating?

Is anyone having erratic problems with Their 1690.

Mine powers off, hangs up on startup, and sometimes directs me to the wrong location.

I'd buy one but I've got too many GPS units LOL.

downloaded poi loader and installed for mac . downloaded poi file .copied and pasted to document folder .saved folder same name as poi . starting poi loader it finds my 255w /i can find the file with (browse for file ) but it doesnt highlight when i click on it.am i missing something ?

I've read about the Nuvi 1820 and 1860 but I have not heard if Garmin is going to release these models. Does anyone know if there are any new models coming in 2010?

loader said i loaded 290 pois, but i only see 52
tried other uploads same thing. is there a max amount of pois ?
i was able to load thru mapsource but they are in favorites not custom pois gary

OK, I just learned somthing cool within my 465T.

Once a destination has been set, you can click WHERE TO and then NEAR. Select MY CURRENT ROUTE and then go into your POI's (custom, preloaded ones, it doesn't matter)...

The device will then list the POI's along your planned route.

As a truck driver, this really makes my fuel stop planning a breeze!

Now, on to my question...

How many custom POI files can you download? I think that is my question? I have a nuvi255w, I have been able to load some custom POI's to my GPS. I Loaded a Wal-mart file and was able to see it on my GPS. Then I loaded another file... Lowes.. thought I was doing things right, but when checking to see.. I no longer had my Wal-mart file.

I recently was in Gary Haymon's nuvi tricks, tips web site trying to find out why my boa doesn't show the boa symbol or boa ahead anouncement doesn't work.
