Garmin talk

I just got my 3790T. I am concerned about damage to it and was hoping to find a "skin" or some protection for the edges in case it drops.

Any Ideas? I thought that maybe it was the same size as an apple product it is 4.8 X 2.9 X X .35

I have also ordered some screen protectors. Are these going to mess up the performance of the touch screen?

I have loaded my GPSmap76csx (POI loader) with wp and proximity zones, 750m, but the alert sounds at different distances. Everything from 750 to 0m!

What is wrong??

I recently bought a Garmin GPS device with lifetime maps. "Lifetime Maps" include 4 map updates a year. But, within few weeks I used up 2 updates and wondering whether I will run out of my 4 chances before the year end.

Does anyone know how often Garmin updates the maps? Is their a webpage that lists the update history?

I have downloaded all of the POIs I wanted and with some difficulty have them now in a POI folder.

I just bought an SD Card to copy that folder to my Garmin.

I decided to load the zipcode file on the sd card and the other poi files on the unit.
When I power up the 295 I get this screen:

Help please. Last few times I've run POI Updater it has frozen. With all the new RLC camera locations posted recently, I was able to determine that my Nuvi 1490T is NOT getting the RLC updates before the freeze happens.

I understand that my lighter adapter is the traffic receiver, but after two years, all of a sudden the 660 had traffic information. I decided to roll with it, but as I suspected, the next time I used the 660, traffic was gone. All of that stuff should be included imho as it's free anyway with any droid phone...

Hello, I have a Kenwood DNX6140/DNX6000EX/DNX5140 unit in my truck. I've had it for about a year now. I can't seem to figure out the correct way to load POI's unto my unit. The instruction manual tells a specific way to load with a CD through the DVD slot.

I followed the instruction manual and still no luck!

Any suggestions on what I can do so I can enjoy POIs???

Does anybody know if there is a way to change the proximity alert box that pops up on the 1350? I have seen screen shots of other units where there is a nice red banner at the top of the screen that is easy to read. Mine has this small grayish box with small text that is hard to read. If there is a way to make the red banner at the top, please let me know.

I have a 3790 and I know it has safety camera files. I think I would prefer to use the red light files on this site. My question, is if I download the red light file from this site how do I know my 3790 is actually using that file? Is there a way of disabling the Garmin safety camera files? Or is that necessary?

I'm wondering how much in the minority I may be. I have installations in my two vehicles, a BMW 128i convertible and a Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV that I call semi-permanent. BMW sells accessory portable GPSs that are rebranded Garmins. I bought one of their installation kits and a Garmin and installed it. It sits to the right of the instruments.

My parents called me from the road and said their Nuvi 2xx (Sorry I forgot at the moment, may be a 205) would just power down by itself (Screen would just go black) then in a few moments would go through the power up process again, all by itself. I was with them before and this happened, and i noticed they were using their phone adapter instead of the Garmin power adapter.

Anybody knows if Nüvi 760 can play wav files? Mp3 works all right.

I have garmin xt on my windows mobile phone, and also have a nuvi 765t with lifetime map updates. Is it possible to copy the maps from my nuvi to my mobile xt? Thanks in advance!

Can you add an audible warning to the 2360lmt unit when you exceed the posted speed limit? Speed will turn red, but it would be good to hear a beep.

Hi, I am new to GPS and just bought a Nuvi 1350T. Love it so far. I am a bit of a geek, and was looking how to get the most out of my unit. I started looking into all of the POI files on here, and realized that it seems that everything is already programmed into the built in POI list. I am sure this is not the case, but what would a file from here give me that is not already on the unit?

I was boarded this morning and ran WebUpdater and found a new firmware version for my 1350. New as long as I did not mess up the old one and it just replaced it.
