Garmin talk

Wondering if anybody might have anny thoughts or theories on this; waypoints that I transfer to my Nuvi 885T no longer show up on the unit. In the past I've successfully transferred numerous points using Bing and Google (USB and wireless).

I just bought a Garmin 1490t, and enabled my Free Navteq traffic , I was wondering what the difference is between Free and Premium? I get no ads as it is.

My 2nd part of this question is Is Clear Channel a Good traffic software? (for Southern Ontario Canada)will it work with the same mini usb Plug that came with my 1490t?

How do you delete the Custom POI in a GPS. I have 3790lmt. What files am I looking for in my computer.

It looks like Garmin has some more new Nuvis coming out with some interesting features.

Cannot download the POI files as computer says I lack the proper program to open GPX extension files. What am I doing wrong??!!

My 1490 has a text folder containing 98 folders. Which ones do I need. I only read English. I would like to delete the rest. That should free up about 37 MB.

I got a 1490LMT a few days ago and have been experimenting with the routes. What I want to do is customize a route from point A to B. So, instead of taking interstate X, I want to take hwy Y and hwy Z. I've tried 2 methods so far and not happy with either:

Twice recently my Garmin has routed me on surface streets rather than the freeway, with the surface streets running parallel to the freeway from one block to three miles away. My preferences are set for fastest way. A neighbor was telling me Garmin routes travel past their on-screen advertisers, but I have been unable to verify this. Anyone know anything about it?

Did the mp3 formatt replace the wav formatt?

If I am not mistaken, Someone created a list of icons that was large and easy to see. I did a search but nothing shows up. I thought that I saw it here. Does anyone have a recollection of this.

It appears that a number of POI files prompt me regarding "Proximity Alerts" when I am loading them.

I would like to NOT be asked that question for most of these files as that would allow me to load/reload much, much faster.

How can I turn off that switch in the POI file itself so that it does not pause to ask me by defaulting to on?

Has anyone got this error message when using Mapsource to retrieve waypoints from your GPS ?

"Data could not be received because I:/Garmin/gpx/Current.GPX is invalid."

How does a GPS react if you are on a split level roadway. Traffic here in Toronto is nuts and I recently heard an idea that someone was suggesting that Hwy 401 would be more efficient if they stacked another level over the existing one and use the entire Hwy for eastbound traffic and route the upper level for westbound.

What is the difference between:
Lane Assist, and
Junction View
?

Downloaded Custom POI from poi factory. I have the Denny's and Chili's. When I reach the location for these restaurant all I see is a dot. Why don't I see the name of the restaurant like I do with the RLC. Without the name it is not much help. I must be doing something wrong, but I don't know what.

I've never used google earth and am a complete neophyte as to what it does and how it works. Can someone tell me, in easy to understand, non-techno language, how can I take a GPS track of some of my foreign travels, and view it on google earth? I've downloaded google earth, and I hooked the GPS up to the computer, but beyond that nothing happened in terms of it showing up somewhere.
