Garmin talk

Just tried to update my POI files on my Nuvi 350. Using the POI loader 2.5.4, two files were highlighted as having errors in them - Bank of America & Pure Gas.

These were the very latest versions of the files.
The errors were on line 5335 of the BoA ATM file & line 82 of the Pure Gas file.

Just a heads up & hoping they get repaired soon.

Hmmm.. Just got an email from Garmin, saying "It's time to update your maps" ... announcing the quarterly update is available.

Guess that's a step in the right direction ... but it's almost a week after we all started downloading the update ... when we learned of 2011.4 here on POI Factory.

Wonder why Garmin delayed the emails? Maybe letting us early downloaders act as beta testers?

Hi folks.
I've uploaded some of the POI files created by members of the POI Factory. For example "Oregon Camprgrounds" (not picking on anyone, its just an example). it says it upliaded xx amount of POIs into the computer, even though I wanted load them in the device.

I have two life time European maps ready for two GPS. I have transferred the new update to my PC using one of the GPS.

Now, can I avoid downloading the same map from Garmin to the second GPS/PC, but transfer the already downloaded map on the PC to the second GPS? If yes: How?

is there a garmin link, for older firmware for the 1490?just thought that the new 5.0 may have some bugs, and may need to set unit back to the older version if this happens.

I have not been following the new Garmin products. On the Garmin web page I selected the features option and put in MP3. Only three products came up, 755, 765 775.
Does that mean that with all the other new Garmin products you have to use wave files for your alerts?
Tell me this isn't so.

I have a Nuvi 350 which recently won't fully charge. It has two green bars at the top, operates fine but no amount of charging using either the auto connector or the stepped down 120 volt charging line will bring more green to the state of charge. Methinks it is the battery after a reasonable life. I like the 350 & want to continue to use it.

This may be a dumb question, or at least - obviously answered.... but: When I see prices around $100 for what is obviously a fairly basic model, like the 265wt for $99 at best buy during christmas and now at staples for around the same price (or less with coupon)... why would anyone want or need one of the $300-$600 units?

My information bar was at the bottom, now it has shifted to the right side of the screen. I have an 1490T, is this after an update or did I do something? I liked it better on the bottom, takes too much screen room on the side. Anybody else have this problem? or have a solution?

hello ,i have searched the forums and cant find a reason why my 255w all of sudden quit working....weather it is plugged in or not.any ideas would be greatful..thanks

I have faithfully following the Beginners steps to get my Garmin set up.

Step one and Step two were fairly easy.

Now I got to step three. I tried to download a POI file and have problems.

is there a way to set distance alerts to the poi file itself (the whole file)without going thru each one ..... i know poi loader in manel mode can do this but i would like to set them and then do just a auto load with all the alerts in them ......thanks

Anybody have a 1300LM that can answer this for me. One of my riding friends is very none technical. Tried to talk him through installing a micro SD card with POIs into his 1300LM over the phone. He said he doesn't see a "Do Not ask me again" check box on the SKIP screen when the unit is booting so he has to hit SKIP everytime he turns it on.

I am new to this GPS system. I just bought a Garmin Nuvi 255W. I downloaded the latest maps when I bought it.

Now, how much space is left for downloading of files from POI? Could we overload the GPS? Could downloading large files eventually slow down the GPS while in use?

Thanks for any enlightenment someone can provide.

I have a couple of suggestions for new features for the Garmin nuvi and I can not find the appropriate web link on the Garmin site to input these ideas...I must be missing some link.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well, a friend just dropped off a 2350LMT for me to play with - noting that I am extremely partial to the older GUI, I didn't (and still don't) have much hope for the product.

The unit won't be mine (I would want a 2360, but this was an early sample and all he had).
