Contributors of the Week and Year

Maybe Angela and Jonathan are just getting tired of putting in the effort it takes to keep them going (understandable), but after almost two decades, it seems interest in posting and seeing these seems to be waning... I've suggested needed updates to the Hall of Fame pages for both COW and COY, but get no reply and see no changes as of a few minutes ago. I like seeing and responding to the COW announcements, better than just posting "hello" or commenting on the weather to keep the windmill alive. They draw my attention to users or activity I may not have noticed, and they help me stay on top of what the busiest contributors have been up to lately. Am I the only one still interested? Would some discussion here help?

Wouldn't you know...

Just as I posted the above, I noticed the COW announcement for this week had popped up! Might still be worth commenting on...

IIRC there are no COW awards given in January, the month goes to the COY.

Actually... if you look at the COW Hall of Fame (history of COWs), in the last two years, there were not only no COWs in January, there were none in December either. Before that, there were COWs in both January and December, even with a COY. That's why I say, that in my observation, interest seems to be waning. We're now up to a two month gap between COWs, at the very end and very beginning of the year. Kinda' like Garmin map updates, they are tapering off. What does that portend for the future? neutral

Stand alone GPS use has dropped off a lot in favor of smartphones and in turn participation on this free forum. May not be worth keeping it alive, although I hope they do, but I'm not paying the bills.

I wonder how many people are truly active here, vs how many members there are, bet that's a relatively small number too. Might not be enough to cover 52 weeks.

I am pretty new but places like this are slowly being removed from the internet in favor of corporate trash. I hope this place is here to stay. In my opinion we need more places like this.....
