Garmin talk

I'm thinking about upgrading my StreetPilot c580 to Nuvi 1370T ... Any suggestions?

I'm a big fan of OpenStreetMap, and have found that it often contains more detailed data in many areas. The big drawback seems to be street numbering... street numbers are usually missing so you can't ask for a route from 123 Green Spring Lane to 456 Willow Grove Way. For that, you still need the Garmin map.

Lifetime US and European Maps:

When installing a red light camera file, do you install it on the sd card or on the gps internal memory.

Has anybody in POI-Factoryland seen any sort of real discount for either the:

nuMaps Lifetime EUROPE (Garmin part number:010- D0130-00)

or the

City Navigator EUROPE NT one time update (Garmin part number: 010-D0026-03)???

I would be happy with any format as long as it is recent.

I have been looking at the garmin page I need to either give my 1390T to my wife and replace it or I take it and put it under the back tired and give it a proper reTIREment (ha burn out humor) , but in either case I want to REPLACE IT.

So what is the best, bad A??ed Garmin available.

Just updated my Garmin 1390T for the first time since life time update purchase,and lost all favorites. Also no longer have the voice of Jack. Now only lists voice of Jill who I cant understand. How do I get Jack and favorites back?

Can't download the poi downloader from Garmin, trying to save it to computer, but it wont let me put it into afolder, keep saying folder invalid. Trying to install the red light cameras from this site. Tried to load it into the GPS, and got the same results.

Is there anyway to customize a Garmin map? For instance, there is a local bridge that is one of the main traffic arteries in our area. The bridge is under construction for the next 2 years. How can I customize my map so that this bridge is avoided and routes are properly calculated?

I have garmin 1490t, i check for updates few times a month,like to use webupdate cause it tells what i'm downloading.Yesterday webupdates showed no new updates,mydashboard showed there was a new update,but I could not tell what it was for.Thanks for any help.nimrag1

I swear my 855 is retarded, of the many quirks it has it gave me a new one yesterday. I turned it on and couldn't get the touch screen to work, voice commands worked fine. Went through the procedure to calibrate the touch screen, the calibration screen wouldn't come up but when it finished booting, the touch screen worked.

I received the email that a new update (NT 2011.40) is available. I guess, the map has grown in size so that it will no longer fits on the Garmin 650. According to the directions it will be possible to store map data on my SD card. Currently, I am downloading directly to the Garmin 650, so I will try loading to the SD card later.

I have 2 Garmin Nuvi 660's one has updated maps and the other doesn't. One also has the main splash screen with the name of the company that owned it previous to me. It does not have the splash screen files to ad or change it. So I want to delete and transfer one to another. What do I have to do?

ive looked thru the list of pois and found some states in here where they have counties by states,,,,but there all not here,,, question where can you find them.......id like to get all the counties and states...that cover tornado alley..and the remander of the states.....spring is comming and as a truck drive its good to know what counties are affected so i can plan ....or take cover..lol...tks

When I press Detour from the Menu, it takes me to the screen where I can detour by Roads. My question, what is the 1/2 mile, 2 miles and the 5 miles use for. I can't figure that out. When I press on them nothing happens.

I forget who it is who provides the traffic service for Garmin on this GPS. All I know is that it isn't cool when you are on the interstate going through a major city stuck in traffic and the GPS is telling you it is smooth sailing. For Pete's sake! It might be time to take this thing back and keep looking for a different GPS.

I appreciate the ability to send waypoints from Google Maps to the GPS and have them appear in the favorites.

I can't seem to figure out why the POI's I loaded in the nuvi 255WT work just fine, but the some of the same information (files) loaded into the 1300 don't give us the option of "Map or Go".
Has anyone else had this problem?
