Garmin talk

Garmin has a new map for my nuvi 260W. I wonder about problems that may arise if I download the new map. If anyone has experience doing this, please tell me if you recommend that I proceed with the downlaod. Thank you.

The Harley Davidson Dealer POI you developed has been super helpful as we traveled throughout the country. In fact, we're head to California from Alaska tomorrow and the POI will help us during our trip. Thanks! FreddyP

i dont understand any of this stuff.is there some way to put poi in one file then put that file in the garmin.for exsam. thrift stores downloaded from a site and then gas stations .then put them in one folder .give it a name of my choise and put on the gps.so when i go to extras i only see the name i gave it.please help anyone thanks .also first time posting .first time gps.first time typing....

I have a Nuvi 650. Is it possible to make it show speed limits. Also I can get my eta but not the current time on display. Can anyone help?

I could not find anything about what I am going to ask so I thought here would be a good start.

Two times now I have been driving and the Nuvi 265T starts making a scratchy sound when you use the touch screen. A simple reboot work to get the audio sounding right again.

Anyone see this with the 265 or 2X5 models?

Occasionally I don’t hear the instructions from the nuvi and would like the unit to repeat. I read the owner’s manual for the 785T carfully, but nothing addresses that issue. Please don’t tell me that Garmin failed to include the option of having the unit repeat the last audio report. I tried touching all the corners, but no repeats. Did I miss something?

I just got my spring flyer from Hyundai with a free oil filter coupon. On the next page there was a list for a Pre trip Checklist. The number one item on the list " Purchase a Garmin Nuvi Navigation system."

Garmin has just introduced the nüvi 1490T GPSr. Supposedly it's "25 percent slimmer than most nüvi models" and has a 5-inch screen.

Hi, Just purchased a Garmin Nuvi 200W, good bit of kit for the money but I was just wondering about a few things and would like some info if possible.
On the main navigation map when driving I don’t see any icons when I pass by fuel stations or Parking lots, pubs etc; on my other sat navs I’ve seen all these icons.

Hi, I am new to this forum and I have a question, I just purchased the Sd card for the Europe maps as they are not downloadable, I placed it in to my garmin and I cannot see my maps, Does anyone have any clue on what I need to do. Help and I really appreciate any help

I can download the Garmin POI Loader file (PC Vista) OK, but when I run the Garmin installer, I get an ERROR that states..."The Specified Path '%APPDATA%' is unavailable"

When I close the ERROR window, the installer says I've installed the POI Loader, but it's not anywhere to be found, no will it 'launch' when I hit the 'DONE' button...so I guess the ERROR is hanging up the install..

I just found this site and must say its awesome. Quick question. I have 2 Garmin units I want to load POI's too. One is MP3 compatible and the other is not. I have MP3 files for some of my POI's I plan to load.

I notice Garmin publishes individual countries for Europe in addition to "Europe".
Is the content the same within a country, i.e., England standalone contains the same info as England in "Europe"?

I took my nuvi 780 to northern Baja last weekend and found that immediately after crossing the border (Tijuana) it would freeze every five minutes or so. Had to power-off-then-on each time.

On a hunch, I unplugged the MSN-Direct power-cord and it stopped freezing.

It worked fine again with the MSN-Direct cable plugged in immediately after crossing the border back into the US.

I wonder if anybody ever ran across this.

I am a member of multiple GPS forums. It is clear from reading all of the forums that Garmin's quality control has decreased tremendously in the last two years or so. The hardware is buggy, the software is buggy, and the maps are buggy.

So at what point will the various GPS websites start to bring up these issues? Because when I read articles about Garmin all I see are glowing reviews.

I have heard that one can download doppler radar software on a Gramin. Is the software for all Garmins or only some. Anyone tried it?

I am thinking of getting either a 755T for 885 non T the price difference is $63.00... I have read thru this and other forums … Traffic is a non issue for me... Please post your opinions...

I have a Nuvi 265T. Is it possible to set a speed alert to trigger when the posted speed limit has been exceeded?

I have already loaded my Speed Camera location alerts thanks to this site

Personally I do not have spoken street names on my 250W and do not miss them at all - but know someone looking at a new unit who is considering the advantages and disadvantages of having spoken street names on whatever they get.

Does anyone with experience of both have views on what is best and why?
