If anyone has a digital recorder with a line input and satilite TV service, you could record a lot of music and put it on your GPS, using the SD card. many Mp3 players have a record function with a line input and variable record bit rates that would be perfect. One could then connect the mp3 player to the PC and transfer it to the SD card in the GPS.

anyone had any expierence with removing a dash disk, any tips ?

With City Navigator 2010 North America now available, does that mean that we are likely to see it available soon on a Garmin Mobile XT micro SD Card? Maybe even with TTS (Test To Speech)?

This idea came about after downloading the RedLight and Speed camera files...
They all work, but I notice on the Redlight and Speed camera files, when seen by POI loader, automatically have Feet distances programmed into them....

So I opened up the Redlight and Speed cam files in Excel, but cannot find anything in them that would seem to point to this setting....

I've been using this wonderful website for several months now and it's great. I have a Garmin 260 that I plan to give to my daughter. I think I'll replace it with a Garmin 255W. Question... with a 255W will I be able to install custom POI's and sound and speed alerts? Would you consider moving from a 260 to a 255 an upgrade?

Ok guys... got my 755T in the mail earlier this week, finally took it out of the box and hooked it up in the car friday night after work...programmed it to take me home and it was spot on... absolutely perfect... but I have a couple of questions. When I first turned it on I got a message window saying the "traffic software" needed to be updated...

My 255W doesn't announce street names any more. Does it have to be on a certain zoom level?

Before getting to question, hopefully Motorcycle Mama will read this. My apologies for not thanking you for your help on 2/22. Your response answered my question. Just tried it today and works perfectly.

Now to my question of the day:

may sound silly but when i received my nuvi 255w , it seemed like it was packaged upside down with the unit laying in the bottom of the box .(the inner box was upside down from the way my 650 was packaged) my nuvi 650 came with the unit in a plastic bag too . this had nothing around it at all .

How do I move poi's from favorites on my Nuvi260w to my custom poi's? Is there software out there that will allow me to add info to current poi's?

I have a very simple question (I think). I know how to create a route on my Nüvi 750. I have defined a start point, a via point and an end point and have saved that route.

Is it possible to update the Nuvi 200W to have a QWERTY keyboard.

I still have '08 maps and I will update for 2010, but the 200W still works really well and does everything I need - well, except the QWERTY keyboard.

If there is no QWERTY update for the 200W, then I will probably buy a new unit. The lack of QWERTY was my only complaint in the last 2 years of ownership.

I have a Nuvi 270 which I find great (US model).
I successfully installed Japan City Navigator V8, and it displays Japanese language characters on the map perfectly. I set the language of the text and voice to Japanese, and it works great. However, there is no Japanese KEYBOARD option available from the list of languages. On the unit sold in Japan it certainly is available

I believe that the 2010.10 map update has broken Junction View on the 7x5 (at least on my end). Note: Junction View is referring to the brief photo-realistic view of the upcoming junction on your route & NOT the Lane Assist arrows at the upper left of the map screen.

When I load the TourGuide POI, they tend to repeat over and over the alert. The alerts work great, but I have had to remove many of the sound for POIs I have loaded and put in quieter sound alerts. Should it be repeating the sound alerts over and over again?

Just wanting to make sure I'm not missing something and know I can get a good explanation from people here.

Are there any way to add voice commands other than
those listed on Garmin updates?

I just got my new 400c and have been playing around with it.

I have noticed that the g2 Bluecharts on the 400c do not diaplay the Bouy/Marker numbers.

Such as can #8, or Daymarker #3 etc.

I have it set to display the "MOST" detail on the maps/charts and I zoom in as far as it will go and still no numbers.

This is a serious problem if you are using it for any sort of navigation.

I'd possibly be interested in subscribing to lifetime updates provided that Mapsource City Navigator as well as the GPS gets updated as well.

Has anyone any experience with this?

How many people got the white screen on their garmin?

..and how much did it take to get it fixed.

I am new to GPS and noticed my garmin Nuvi 760 didn't have an awful lot of good POI's. I just downloaded all the Walmart locations in the U.S. and now don't understand how to get them onto my device? When it was done downloading it created an excel file. How do I get these loaded onto the GPS device? Thanks to anyone who can help?
