Garmin talk

I am a member of multiple GPS forums. It is clear from reading all of the forums that Garmin's quality control has decreased tremendously in the last two years or so. The hardware is buggy, the software is buggy, and the maps are buggy.

So at what point will the various GPS websites start to bring up these issues? Because when I read articles about Garmin all I see are glowing reviews.

I have heard that one can download doppler radar software on a Gramin. Is the software for all Garmins or only some. Anyone tried it?

I am thinking of getting either a 755T for 885 non T the price difference is $63.00... I have read thru this and other forums … Traffic is a non issue for me... Please post your opinions...

I have a Nuvi 265T. Is it possible to set a speed alert to trigger when the posted speed limit has been exceeded?

Personally I do not have spoken street names on my 250W and do not miss them at all - but know someone looking at a new unit who is considering the advantages and disadvantages of having spoken street names on whatever they get.

Does anyone with experience of both have views on what is best and why?

I have a Nuvi 360 and was using the unit to play MP3s over the speakers and received a call via bluetooth. When I answered the call I could hear the other party over the speakers but they could not hear me replying.

So my question is does the Nuvi stop using the integrated microphone when using the aux out port for the audio? Or is it not possible to use the bluetooth over the speakers?

looking at pois on my garmin .tried spell/cracker barrel/2 listings same address 1511 riverboat center dr jo;iet ,il. one has a (c red color by it , but then there are other single locations with (c in red .anyone explain?

We are headed to London in two days, and just realized that I did not order a Europe/England map for my nuvi 350.

Is there anyway to get it quickly, such as sa ite that downloads it directly?

The Garmin site only sells these via CD/Card, and sent via snail mail.

Are there any stores in London that sell them over-the-counter?

I'm curious how useful lane assist feature is. These questions are for GPS owners who have this feature.

On a 5-6 lanes freeway, does the system know what lane we're in? Does it actually tell us what lane we're supposed to be on? When approaching a junction or an exit, does it keep telling us what lane we're supposed to be on until we merge onto that lane?

I need to know where the Reset switch is located on my nuvi 265wt.

And how do I get a reader for the POI files (GPX,GPI) ?

I have a Garmin C530 which does not show LAT/LON coordinates. Yet, although not visible to me, these must be maintained somewhere for the device to work properly. So is there a file within which I can get at the coordinate locations for my saved favorites? (Assume the device would be connected via USB cable to my PC.) If so, where would these be?

Hey guys... I'm pretty good with technology, computers, etc., but new to the GPS arena, so I have a couple questions I was hoping you fellas could help me with:

1. How up-to-date would the POI's expected to be in the latest map update North America 2010 NT?

This might be a complete newbie question but here it goes (had a search on this forum but alas, nothing could be found to resolve my issue) :

- I've download the Burgerking and the In & Out POI's for the States, as a test
- copied the BK.csv to d:\poifactory\bk and the InO.csv to d:\poifactory\ino.csv

It appears there are problems with traffic subscriptions coming from Garmin. If you have activated a subscription recently, you may only get three months instead of a full year, or you may get 15 minutes instead of a lifetime.

There is currently a problem with the MSN receivers models GDB 50 and GDB 55. From Garmin:

I am very new to these forums and GPS' in general, though I am an IT consultant who puts 25,000 miles (80% business) on my car each year. Ergo, the technology of my Garmin is pretty clear, just not all of the GPS concepts.
