Chit Chat Thread for the week of October 06, 2008

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

Still Sick

I am still fighting this cold that I have. I am hoping to feel better soon. This is the only thing that I dislike about fall, getting sick.

Every day I get to feeling a little bit better, but not at 100% again yet.

Miss POI

I hope you feel well soon!

Having three kids, I've seen many times where one of them would bring something home from school, and have it passed all around, and on a couple of occasions, get it again from someone else at school.

I am amazed at how many parents send their child to school knowing that their child is sick. The reason is that the parent can't afford to take time off from work, so they sent the youngin' to school. crying

Does anyone else see an incorrect picture for the wal-mart combined listing in the recently added or updated page? (Click on poi files at top of this page, scroll down to "view all recently added or updated" and then scroll down to "Wal-Mart, Sams clubs & Wal-Mart Supercenters in one file") Is there a picture of walmart there?

At the bottom of the "in one file" listing there is a pic of a Wal-Mart.

That is what I expected...

I am getting an unusual add type picture there, but when I renew the page it changes to the correct one. I've been talking to JM about it but have not found the problem yet....

It's time to buckle-up the seat belts, and enjoy the ALCS. This when you will start to people dressing statues in team colors along with your downtown skyscrapers windows the neighborhood homes flying the Ray's Flag.
I can only hope you can make it to the park for at least one game or more, because the ballpark transforms into a magical place for the fans from here out.

Temp here is 40

Up here in MASS, the nights are really cool. Hubby is trying to paint the outside front of the house, and Home Depot is not shipping new exterior paint to stores. He had to drive somewhere in New Hampshire today to get 6 more gallons to do the job. I hope he can finish before it gets too cold.

And I thought hummingbirds would all be gone south, but saw one lone female hummer sipping nectar from the nasturtiums last week. Poor little thing, I hope she makes it to a warmer clime.

Our dachshund is going crazy, trying to catch a rabbit, squirrel, or chipmunk. They are everywhere in our yard, chowing down on the bird feeder spills.

I rather see the Rays win before Boston wins. But it would be nice to see Torre and the Dodgers take on the Red Sox in the Series, and if he won....THAT would be awesome. Also i would like to give my condolences to all the Met fans out there who saw your season come to a crashing halt yet again on the last day of the season. Yes i am a Yankee fan. And YES we stunk this year.

My whole family will be getting flu shots this year. I just can't believe that I am still sick. I am hoping to feel better tomorrow.

Miss POI

Go Red Sox!

1 down & 2 more to go to be champions again!

flu shot

The only problem I have with the flu shot, is it does not always help. I have not been getting the flu for a couple of years, so last year I got the flu shot to be safe. THEN I got the flu, and got it bad. They said the shot did not work for the flu virus I had. Well, we can hope this year's shots cover us better. Good Luck! And hope you feel better soon.

Got rain in Houston today - first since IKE. Sure don't need anymore of that IKE stuff. Still have a lot of blue roofs and trees laying around. We are still recovering but now have power and water.

Ahha Albuquerque in the Fall....

Albuquerque… Had a very nice visit there a couple years ago. Visit Historic Old Town if you get the chance. Granted there are lots of ‘Touristy’ shops in there but it’s like a little village/town in the middle of all that hustle and bustle of a big city.

The huge adobe San Felipe de Neri Church on the north side of the square with lots of shade trees and on the east side the locals spread out brightly colored blankets with their handmade jewelry, pots and other assorted items. Lots of winding alleys to all sorts of different shops.

If you have the time try a pleasant drive along the Turquoise Trail (Highway 14) to Santa Fe then on to Taos. You’ll pass through the eclectic town of Madrid before reaching Santa Fe. Madrid was the location of a scene from the movie Wild Hogs and is a recovering coal town that was discovered by artists and has been reborn.

This town is also the location of a bar, The Mine Shaft Tavern, that from the outside looks like a real dive. Once inside you’ll find a friendly dinning-bar-live band on stage place. The weekends are pretty busy with biker groups, (no, not those kinda bikers. Not that there’s anything wrong with that kind.) who like the winding road tour to and from the area. At least it was when I was there.

A collection of the artsy type of people have migrated to the town and provide a wide range of shops from home made bar soap, candles jewelry, cloths, incense to high end rugs of exquisite color and quality, (read big bucks).

Didn’t mean to come off as the New Mexico Tourist Department but just the mention of Albuquerque brings back a lot of good memories of a great visit. A Google search will bring up some PanOramo photos of the town and other shots from along the trail.

Enjoy your stay

If you can find some Sassa Frass root in your area it will help clear you up a bit. Just bite/cut off a little bit and chew on it, (don’t swallow the root). If you have a big enough piece you can boil it to make a tea and drink a couple cups a day. Old Indian fixer upper. Works for me. Honest Injun
