255W turns itself on.

I wonder if anybody ever ran across this.
I found that when I turn on the 255W it shows the screen where I put in the PIN. When I don't do anything and just let it sit after a minute or two the screen changes to the Warning screen. If I still don't do anything it changes to the Where To screen and is ready to navigate. I'm about 1/2 mile from the security location. I contacted Garmin and received an email to try a different PIN. Haven't done that yet. Did anybody else have this experience?

You need to re-set your

You need to re-set your security location.If you don't touch the agree button for the warning screen. It is normal for it to change to the where to screen.

I think your gestimate of a

I think your gestimate of a 1/2 mile may be off just far enough that the unit thinks you are there.

Before you change your pin, take the unit at least a mile, or more, even 5 miles and check to see that the unit will not unlock without the pin.

Keep it turned off till you get there. Also, since you have moved, give it at least 5 minutes to acquire the satellites. Yes, it will still acquire, that's how it knows whether you are in your secure location or not.

Thanks for your responses. I moved about two miles away this time and inserted the same PIN again. Now it is sitting here for half a day and it is still showing the Enter PIN screen. I guess it is working right now.
