Garmin talk

this morning my Nuvi760 started to act up - the car icon was not attaching itself to the highway i was driving on ( it was between the highway & a parallel side road. Ofcousrse it generated many recalculating annoncements. I figured the computer didn't boot up correctly, so i shut the unit off and after a few minutes restarted it and all was well again.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 205. When we're out of town the POI search function is WONERFUL!

Now, I add "extra" POIs... How do I search the "extras"? Can I search ALL POIs (Standard and custom)?

Does anyone have exerience with this?

Hello everyone. Is there any new map-updates coming out?

I have the Garmin 660 and I'm looking to a new model. What is the best one right now to get of the new Garmin models that just came out.

So I had one of those interminably long "loading maps" delays today with my 760. In frustration, I shut it off, waited a few seconds and turned it back on. Booted up very quickly but displayed "This accessory is not supported / OK" before going to the enter your PIN screen.

Wonder what it was talking about?

I bought what I thought was a Nuvi 265wt, I looked at the Garmin site and am confused with the labeling of this device. Mine has 265W NO "T" found, Garmin shows that the 265 W is for Europe?? The WT's are for almost everywhere else.

How many of you have the 265 wt or the 265w? And what is the difference??
Mine was bought on sale at Amazon a couple months ago.

I have City Navigator North America NT 2010 and mapsource version 6.15.6 installed on my PC. From the mapsource program, is there anyway I can see the speed limit for certain roads, streets or highways?

It would be nice if I can able to see the speed limit from mapsource to plan my route.

Has anyone had any luck in pairing Iphone 3g OS 3.0 with Nuvi 765t?
I tried my luck but not much success. It pairs sometimes at first and then disconnects. It never transferred my address book from Iphone. I will appreciate your feedback if you have iphone and nuvi 765t.

Does anyone know if the vehicle icon can be changed on a Garmin/Kenwood G510 add on. Its basically the same unit as the Garmin GVN 53.

I have compiled my own list of Nuvi 855 Speech Commands, and organized them into five separate categories, which makes them a bit easier to find (on my custom made sheet) when driving. I feel that my arrangement of similar functions grouped together is easier to reference than the list in the Garmin manual. Well, at least they make more sense to ME!

Anyone interested in using Google Maps to make custom pois here is the process I use.I find it faster using this method to make my files.

1. Go to Google maps http://maps.google.com/maps and click on sign in.Now create an account now.
2.Once signed in go to create new map on left. Fill in title and description. Under privacy settings mark public or unlisted. Then click done.

I just found this out with MapSource. I prefer to use TakItWithMe which creates one single favorite with all the waypoints.

Am I supposed to create Custom Routes with those favorites transferred from MapSource?

I just downloaded a bunch of custom POI's and when I searched for them on the unit I found that even though I am pretty sure I put them in, some of them are not there. I used the manual method putting in custom proximity alerts. Are the files corrupt? They look OK in Excel.

My wife dropped her Edge 205 yesterday and cracked the display. Is it repairable or do I just get her a new one?

Just a observation.When I went to FL last year I had a Streetpilot 340 with latest 2009 maps.When returning to VA I had a Nuvi 265 with 2010 maps.Returning back to Va I noticed no difference in the routing using the 2010 maps.I have the ecoroute installed on the 265 but don't use the save fuel routing but the fastest time.

The, my, Garmin 700 series has the nice option of displaying the speed limit on the map screen. A factory option. Is there a way to program alert to warn, either voice or sound, when one exceeds that posted speed limit option. I know when entering personal POI’s an alert can be assigned, but, I’m asking about the factory option.

I was taking a trip this 4th of July and whn i came across some TA, road ranger, and Loves truck stops the alert i have set when uploading them onto my Garmin NUvi 255W didn't show. However when i passed a rest area, or red light camera it did show up on the screen.

What do you think the problem is?
