Garmin talk

I just downloaded a bunch of custom POI's and when I searched for them on the unit I found that even though I am pretty sure I put them in, some of them are not there. I used the manual method putting in custom proximity alerts. Are the files corrupt? They look OK in Excel.

My wife dropped her Edge 205 yesterday and cracked the display. Is it repairable or do I just get her a new one?

Just a observation.When I went to FL last year I had a Streetpilot 340 with latest 2009 maps.When returning to VA I had a Nuvi 265 with 2010 maps.Returning back to Va I noticed no difference in the routing using the 2010 maps.I have the ecoroute installed on the 265 but don't use the save fuel routing but the fastest time.

The, my, Garmin 700 series has the nice option of displaying the speed limit on the map screen. A factory option. Is there a way to program alert to warn, either voice or sound, when one exceeds that posted speed limit option. I know when entering personal POI’s an alert can be assigned, but, I’m asking about the factory option.

I was taking a trip this 4th of July and whn i came across some TA, road ranger, and Loves truck stops the alert i have set when uploading them onto my Garmin NUvi 255W didn't show. However when i passed a rest area, or red light camera it did show up on the screen.

What do you think the problem is?

There appears to be a number of reasonably priced 2009 maps around (under $40.00). If one were to buy one of these maps would you be entitled to one free upgrade to the latest version i.e. 2010?

When adding custom POIs such as Yellowstone, where are they supposed to appear? Favorites or POIs?

Just back in Phoenix from my Vegas commute. I was disappointed that I did not see a greater DPS presence this trip. DPS Mobile speed cameras in the expected and usual places on US 93, Lake Pleasant Road, and Loop 101. I guess selective enforcement must have been heavy during the holiday weekend and shifts were cut back on enforcement today.

Any thoughts/knowledge about this? I have a Nuvi 755T and my guess is that Garmin isn't going to improve on this map feature in future map updates.

Anyone know how many Computers I can install MapSource on?? With detailed maps that is...

My wife was using our new Nuvi 855 to meet a friend for golf. Her use and knowledge of the gps in general is limited. I added her destination as a favorite (by address). We selected this favorite to navigate to. She was off.

Thirty minutes later she called and said she was lost!!!

Last week, the 12/24-volt adapter/external speaker for my StreetPilot 2730 stopped working. I tried in both outlets of my car and both outlets of my wife's car - no dice.

Before I shell out 35+ bucks for a new one, would I be able to replace any of the parts instead? I unscrewed the tip of the charger, and saw a cylindrical bulb-like part. Can this be replaced?

Does anyone out there have the Garmin specs for HEADPHONE vs LINEOUT signal levels and bandwith ?

I have a Nuvi 200w and wish to use the logging option which, I understand, only works up to through 3.4 version. I have the 3.4 and attempted to load using Webupdater. I can't get to override version 4.0 on the unit. Any help?

I have a Nuvi 360 and in the summer season, I take out my 2002 Sea-Doo jetski out to the local lakes or rivers.

However when I want to go to new places like Lake Candlewood in CT or some new places nearby, I find the GPS routes me onto parkways in NY... if you didn't know....trailers and trucks (larger than a pickup truck) or any trailers for that matter, are banned on parkways in NYS.

Is it possible to save custom POI's in sub-categories already established? I want my Cracker Barrel listings so they show up as a food destination along with other food . Can I create a new sub-category like 'camping' that will show with food, lodging, shopping, etc on the list of sub-categories? I have a nuvi 750

i have a img europe map on sd card but i dont know how to open on garmin

Can anyone explain the difference between updates done via myDashboard through a browser and the ones done using WebUpdater?

What I have gathered is that using myDashboard updates all voices/text if you want them or not, while WebUpdater lets you choose which ones you want.
