Garmin talk

The last two days my MSN reception in the Phoenix area has been virtually non-existent. I routinely take my bean bag mount and cord out of my car and put in my work truck. Sometimes when I do, I notice a slight service disruption, usually about 15 minutes. I'm sure that the battery in the cord needs to be changed and the 125 minuite disruption is from it trying to acquire the MSN signal.

OK, I added a bunch of POI's and am not happy with the results. They all seem to be at least a block off from their actual location. The unit slows down so that even the cross streets don't keep up with speed of travel. I even switched to 2d, it still can't keep up.

My Nuvi 1390 & 1450 show the speed limit and vehicle speed.

Is it possible to add a icon to a pre-loaded poi file on a nuvi 205w.

Some of the poi files I have downloasded to my Garmin255 are not listed on Extras icon for custom poi's?

When I got my 755t it had a sneaker vehicle icon. Is there a way of getting it back?

I am planning to travel internationally to Argentina. Of all of the Garmin GPS available, which one is best for South America - Argentina ?

How can I tell if my garmin has UK maps.

Yes I know Bring it with me and find out it doesn't work, when I get there and turn it on. I want to check Before i end up Lost trying to find Stone Henge.

I have both GPX & CSV files on my GPS.
If I plug my GPS into my computer and open the drive, I can click on a CSV file and open it in Excell and see what is on it.
If I click on a GPX file, I get a message that it can't be opened.
Is there a way to open this kind of file to read the information.

My Nuvi 650 touchscreen has become non responsive on three occasions now. Researching the topic on the net I found references to problems with the 650s with certain serial numbers. Mine fell into that category. But, the pattern I have noticed is that when it fails it has usually been in a hot environment for a while in particular a hot car.

I hope someone will tell me which is the preferred option when installing the Red Light, Speed, and REst Stop pois onto my nuvi.

When I selected the Custom mode, I realized that I did not understand what I was supposed to do next for the rest stop poi. So, I elected Express Mode as my default.

I have a 265W and have discovered that the pre-programmed alerts don't seem to be working. Alerts such as "external power lost", "battery power low" and "recalculating". The text to speech directions work fine as do my custom POI alerts (although those are custom wav files).

This apparently applies to the GTM 35 which ships with the nuvi 37xx series.
Direct link not yet available but get you can easily get it via WebUpdater or myDashboard.

I need some help restoring my maps back onto my SD Card. I have mistakenly deleted maps from my SD Card and i dont know how to restore them back onto SD card.Coming with error "No detailed maps found that support routing.The Nuvi cannot be used without them."
Any help regarding this issue will be appreciated.

In other threads people have posted that they have changed some of the pre-programmed phrases in their Garmin GPS' using the neat program TTS Voice Editor by TurboCCC.

Nearly everyone who makes changes nearly always changes that one most annoying phrase "Recalculating". That was the first one I changed too.
