Hi all,

I just purchased a refurbished Nuvi 255W because I sent my 260W back after receiving a recall notice about a battery problem. I needed a Nuvi for a trip that I am taking before the 260 is sent back to me.

Here's my question: Will I be able to use the lifetime map update that I purchased for my 260 to update maps on the refurbished 255W?

I've searched the forum for the answer to no avail.

I have a new 3760T with the CN North America 2011.20 loaded.

Is there a way I can install this map onto either Mapsource or Basecamp?

I have the unlock code, but neither program is recognizing them.

Thoughts?

any one know about the phantom alert for gps,,,if you know pls tell me how to free downlaod for my c320 ??

If your unit does not have Junction View or Lane Assist goto http://www.navteq.com/ and enter your route. The lane assist junction views should show on the left as they
would on your unit.

I plugged my Nuvin into my recently built XP workstation, and I get "USB Device not recognized. One of the USB devices...blah-blah-blah...." No more drive access to the unit, no more POI loading, no more updates.... What the heck???

Anyone?

Whacked gstart, POIloader, Mapsource, USB drivers and reinstalled all that stuff to no avail.

i've been using Redlight cameras POIs which are very good and I like to keep that up to date. more and more of areas surrounding me introduces red light cameras, the most annoying thing in the world ...

anyways, I have a question about Speed cameras. Since I started using this POI too I noticed it gives nothing but headache.

In monitoring and searches of this forum I see a fair number of people using the nüvi 1450 and most seem fairly happy with it. However, even the recent Amazon reviews are littered with negative comments about this unit's reliability, which gives me concern.

Is there a way to make a TourGuide POI file that doesn't have TourGuide in the category and alert message once it is compiled to the nuvi?

For the very first time the traffic receiver on my 1490T paid off. Previously, every time I've gotten a "severe traffic" message, it's been too late and I'm already past the exit on the freeway that would have been a good escape. On I80 westbound last night, Jill yelled the alert just as I was approaching an interchange, and switched to the traffic map.

I had sort of forgot about this, but it looks like as a registered Garminfone user I am eligible for free Lifetime Map Updates. Does Garmin send an e-mail when the updates are available or is it up to me to find out when they are available?

Just returned from a 2200 mile trip to Western Nebraska and S Dakota. Traveled over many miles of "ranch roads" and roads located on federal grasslands with no problems. The garmin identified most of the county roads by name and it showed us the grassland roads but no numbers. Garmin helped a lot.

Does anyone know the location of a stomping Godzilla vehicle icon? Preferably fire breathing.

Hi All. GPS newbie here who bought a 1490T NIB yesterday. I did a lot of online research (including here) before buying. This is a great website!

On the last page of the Quickstart manual in the box, it says "To receive one free map update (if available), register your nuvi at [website] within 60 days OF ACQUIRING SATELLITES AND DRIVING WITH YOUR NUVI . . ."

Stupid as this might sound. My apostrophe is grayed-out when i go into the bluetooth menu under Friendly name and try to edit the name. All others are available. Any one else have this also with their 7x5?

1 - Given the fact that while driving we should be texting (or dialing) less and using hands-free devices more, I am quite disappointed that the new Garmin Nuvi 3760 (and probably the 3790) doesn’t support the Bluetooth profile PBA (Phone Book Access) when paired with cell phones with that capability. We need to be pressing less buttons to make a call – not more.

I just completed a visit to Canada and Alaska. Both my Garmin and our traveling companion's Garmin showed the vehicle off of the road quite a bit while in the Northern areas of Canada and in Alaska. I have the latest updates to my system. Is this because of poor calculations way up North or are the data not as good as in the lower 48?
