POI projects

Hi all!

I came up with an idea for a .POI file that I'd like to start but it will seriously depend on the community here to make or break the file similar to the RedLight camera .POI file, needs the community to work.

I would like to start a discussion/project on everybody's favorite Mom and Pop Sub Shops. You know the type. They make the best sandwiches and are not one of the Chains. You can usually find sandwiches based on more of the local flavors then you can at the chains. I have started it with my favorite and look forward to building this list with your favorites.

I am a new POI user and I have thee questions.
1. Can I change the file name of an existing POI file as long as I don't change the extension?
2. Can I use copy/paste to combine existing POI files?
3. Are there any limitations to the length of a POI file?

I truly appreciate all the hard work involved in creating POI listings and .csv files. I find it especially helpful when town names are included with street addresses and coordinates. It's even a bigger bonus when phone numbers are included. Is there a simple way to modify some existing .csv files missing such information?

I see a lot of POI of certain stores, etc. I am interested in a POI of certain areas. Visiting North Myrtle Beach on vacation and would like POI of that area.
New at this so forgive if there is a place I can get area POI. Any ideas?

To whomever maintains Starbucks POI files: I noticed that the location finder on Starbucks' website does not list all locations! If you're using this website location finder to build the POI file, you might be missing some locations. Any possible reason for this?

I just bought my first gps, a nuvi 260 and downloaded a poi file. How can I view and edit/delete any of the poi's installed on my gps?

I think that limiting a project name to just San Juan, is decieving! Since the POI that many of us has entered has been from different parts of PR, including nice beaches, etc.

I just posted a file with the Girl Scout camps in Central Maryland (http://www.poi-factory.com/node/16243). I'd love to have a file with scout camps from all over the country but as far as I can tell, there's no way to get the listings except to go to the individual council websites.

With students returning for the fall semester at the University of Alabama, I thought that several POI files for Tuscaloosa were in order. I have created and uploaded three file.

Tuscaloosa Government Buildings, Tuscaloosa Fire Stations, and Tuscaloosa Utilities.

Just wanted to let Hannah Know that the RR Crossing Poi Has Hundreds of Duplicate Files need to run Poi Verifier and it will list all the duplicates that way you can remove them

Just wondering if this is a subject area worth developing?

So much going on with POI Factory already.

However, for those who travel with pets, emergencies do arise.

Would vet or animal hospitals be found in the HOSPITAL portion of "WHERE AM I" ?

At this time, I am not experienced enough to put together a POI file on this topic, but in the future I would be quite happy to help on it.

Is there a poi file out there that gives you a list of locations for the highway patrol offices in a state? I am looking for Texas myself, but is that out there or does anyone have that in the works? Thanks!!

New to the board. So please forgive me if I come off as a total newbie.

I just spent the past few hours making my Mac think it was a PC to update my Magellan Maestro with new firmware and to try my hand at POIs

Thanks to this board (bows) I was able to download POIs and even figure out how to make one master POI file on my Magellan.

I've been looking for Books-a-Million USA (CSV file) POI's for Garmin c330... can't seem to find any. Does anyone know where I can get them?
