I just bought my first gps, a nuvi 260 and downloaded a poi file. How can I view and edit/delete any of the poi's installed on my gps?

You can't.
The built in POIs can't be edited at all and the Custom POIs must be edited on your computer.

You can edit them using Excel/Works or Notepad !
Be cautious in how you save the file after making changes when using Excel or Works.

Yes, you must edit the original data files and then you can reload the Custom POIs to your GPS unit.
