I searched for this topic but couldn't find anything, so I apologize if this has been mentioned before.

As I was looking at various POI projects I realized that I'm really only interested in POIs in my general area. So it dawned on me that you can just download the csv files, combine them, and then delete the POIs you are not interested in.

We live in our rv and I have been trying to find rv friendly mapping and poi's. We have a nuvi 750 and although it works great and all the poi's I have found on here are unbelievable, but I would still like to find something specific for 40' rv's.

Forgive a newbie; couldn't find a relevant FAQ entry.

I downloaded the Schools-Northeast compendium and successfully loaded it into my nuvi 750. I'm finding that there are a lot of local school zones missing from the file, and that there are a lot of entries in the file that might nominally be considered schools, but aren't "school zones" with special speed limits.

With hockey season approaching and me having our family's first GPS (Magellan 4250) I was hoping to 'import' such a useful a POI. I did a little bit of searching w/o success. I would have thought it does exist? Any ideas?

Thanks for all the great info so far. I'm new, but have searched everywhere I could think of and can't find POIs for the ALCAN. I thought about sendong some from Google maps, but doesn't seem as efficient as asking someone else. Thanks much

Well, on the heels of having completed the Office Depot file, I've started an OfficeMax file.

This one is a little more difficult because their website does not note the Store # in the search... and the search is limited to only 5 stores at a time.

Just wanting to understand this incredible process of downloading POis to my Garmin C340.

1.How can I alter alert distances within a POI?

2. By downloading the POI, will it reside automatically within the route that's active?

3. How can I personalize the POI in Excel after I have downloaded it to my computer.

Please send me your POI's for BBQ restaurants only not including the chain types just the small restaurants; shacks or whatever specializing in good bbq.

Has anyone thought about a POI for hockey shops (local or chains)? Since there's not any near me, I end up driving to Play it Again Sports to get some equipment or ordering online.

I just submitted a file for approval for all Honda motorcycle dealers in Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland. Please let me know if I've missed anything. This is my first submission. It's in the gpx format.

The Shell website has downloadable station listings for UK, Australia, Denmark, etc., but not for the US. Has anyone started compiling the US stations? I know there are a few local POI files, but nothing broad. Shell's customer service implied that a listing would be available to members of the Shell Motorist Club (which I'm not). Anyone out there a member that could confirm this? Thanks!

I've started compiling a POI file of all the state liquor stores in Oregon (the ONLY liquor stores in Oregon are state stores).

The POI info is being taken from the Oregon Liquor Control Commission listing and will include phone numbers and the stated hours of operation as well as the name of the store, the address, and the coordinates.

We're always looking for new places to launch the boat & sometimes it's hard to find FREE places.....

I'm new to the boards. I travel for my work and purchased a Garmin nuvi 750 a few weeks ago. I've updated the software and installed the 2009 map upgrade and have downloaded POI's from this site that I can definitely use... the Staples file (my local Staples wasn't on the Garmin shopping list), the State Parks, and the Rest Areas... thanks to all that had a hand in creating them.
