Garmin talk

I tried to use my Garmin car charger for the first time only to discover it didn't work. I have had it since Xmas, but until this past weekend, always ran it off batteries. SO I called Garmin last night and they are sending out a new one (about 18 minutes on hold). Great.

I was traveling down I-95 this morning when all of a sudden my 660 started to tell me that there was a 21 min delay up ahead, I never heard it say anything about the traffic like that except for the little yellow box on the right hand side with the number inside. Did I turn something on and not know it?

I am trying to upload speed and redlight POI onto my nuvi760.
I think I know what to do redlight camera POI. one redlight POI file, one alert sound, one icon in a folder with the same name and use POI loader to upload it.
But for speed camera POI, I see bunch of icons and sound files on the download page. (http://www.poi-factory.com/node/7908)

I'm a newbie trying to play with POI files on my new Garmin Nuvi 200. After creating a folder including the cvs file plus an icon and an alert sharing the same file name (but different extensions), I uploaded it to the unit. However, whenever I approach a target, only the icon shows up without the alert. Is this because Nuvi 200 does not have the capability of playing sound files?

I just bought a new Garmin nuvi 260w to replace my old Garmin c340. Is there a way to transfer my "favotites" file from the c340 to the nuvi?

PS: The c340 still works fine, I just wanted to update to a newer model.

i drove through an area where there were 2 traffic lights with cameras and my Nuvi 760 and 680 kept sounding the alert 10 times. is there a way to make it sound off only one time when approaching the camera ?

So i am pretty new at this POI stuff. I did read the FAQ, did read the Garmin FAQ, did read the "How do I load custom sound alerts...". I read and read and read.

I have a Nuvi 200.

This is what I did:

1) Download lastest POI loader from Garmin site.
2) Download sox.exe and place it in program files/garmin directory (poiloader originally prompted me for this location).

I currently own a Tomtom 910 & a Garmin Nuvi 660.

The tomtom while on route will advise me, by an audible tone, when I'm speeding. I assume this feature is loaded within the maps since I have done nothing to obtain this service.

I've contacted Garmin support who informed me that they do not provide the feature but in writing stated:

Lately, when using the navigation on my 760, I end up saying "Nah, I don't want to go that way." fairly often.

Both Hornbyp's Guide and Motorcycle Mama's posting state that the MP3 file must have exactly the same name as the corresponding csv or gpx file (e.g., walmart.csv and walmart.mp3). However, Hornby says file names are not case-sensitive, whereas MM says they are.

My wife was taking her mount off the windshield and the rubber piece that is between the plastic mount and the glass came off. Her mount is about 9 months old. Everyone says that Garmin's customer service is good. Does anyone have any experience with Garmin replacing mounts?

My plug got broken recently, while attempting to repair it I noticed that their was no voltage regulation inside the plug. Is it regulated in the cradle?

I plan to take a trip from Gainesville, FL to Fair Play, SC this October (on a Sunday). From my own research and Google Maps, I should take I75 to Atlanta, then around Atlanta to I85 to SC. My Garmin Nuvi 760 wants to take me off I75 at Macon, GA and travel up 441 which I know can't be the "fastest route".

Is there a way to reset the trip information without resetting the odometer? I just reset the trip and i was sad to see that my odometer also went to zero. Luckily I only had a couple hundred miles on it. On my 60CS you can pick and choose what fields are reset, and I have 20k+ miles on the odometer.

I was on my way to dinner and having my 880 connected as usual, all of a sudden a screen popped up and it said Remote Access firmware update, the only problem was it never went past 1% mark, even while I left on battery and then upon leaving the restaurant, it still stayed on 1%, so I disconnected the unit and I figured Garmin must have an update, connected to webupdater, and no update..

Garmin Nuvi 360:
I can't get my phone to pair with my GPS again. I have had them working together and I've made a few calls. Now I cannot get it to connect. When I try, the GPS pops up the phone passkey, so I assume that the phone is communicating with it. When the phone asks for the passkey I enter it and it says "Pairing Failed." Any ideas?

I am new to this site today. Where is the best place, in terms of price, to buy the new Garmin 2009 map update software. Garmin sells it for $69.00.

Has anyone had a problem lately with their traffic antenna on a c550 just stopping? Garmin told me this morning they are having problems with them, they tech gave me a RMA and a free year of service on top of the running subscription, and will nextday a new one to me.

I have a NUVI 660 that will not allow me to load custom POI's, that are actually usable. They are installed in a one large file that is in the Garmin\POI directory. Nothing will show up under custom >> Extras, even though there are several custom POI's installed. I have contacted Garmin three separate times about this issue, and did the install per their instructions, with no success.

Is there a way to change the icons for your Favorites on the 660 ?
