POI viewing problem/question

First, I have a nuvi 660. I have read many of posts online (in FAQ and forums) but I am still having problems...
I have loaded several POIs without problems and I can see them under "Custom POIs" and see my custom graphic under the "map" fuction.
Question: As I travel to a specific address, can I see my custom POI's enroute (i.e. as I pass by on interstate for example)?
I am very frustrated with the fact that I can not see my "Starbucks" as I travel (as well as other more important POIs).
Any assistance you could give me would be much appreciated.

About 300' or greater to see the icons...

So you have to be within a "football field" to see a "football field" on your Garmin.
Actually I can see the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum at

0.8 mile zoom, local school football fields do not show up at all, but the block they are on shows up at .2 miles... but to see a poi icon you have to be zoomed in to 300' and a favorite or waypoint icon can be seen at a 1.2 mile zoom..... Of course I am using a nuvi 760, other gps units may differ...
