Map Outlines

I have the Nuvi 350. I see on the Map settings, Map Outlines (which is set to ON). I checked the manual, it just mentions to turn it on and off. What does it do?
I know the others, Detail, View, and Vehicle.

If you have supplemental maps loaded, it shows you the outlines of the map tiles.
