Garmin talk

Hello, I'm new at this POI thing. I downloaded a POI file on my Nuvi 350 using the POI loader. There was a dialog box congratulating me on the success of the download to the Garmin. However, I can't find the file. The manual says that it should be under "my locations", but it's not there. What am I doing wrong?

I would like to have your opinion on this :

I'm on the road, listening to the MP3 songs from SD Card of my Garmin Nuivi 660.

If i go thrue a zone where i have an alert listed, the music stop, i hear the correct MP3 personal alert from my POI, and then the music start to play BUT not where it has been stopped but at the beggining of the song(re-start the song).

I used an iGuidance with my PDA and it had a neat feature called Speed Alert, it beeped when you went over the roads speed limit. I assume that the Nuvi has knowledge of the speed limits which is probably used to calculate the ETA time. Can I load something on it to give me a speed alert?

I recently got a Nuvi 200 last week. I used it in New Jersey area and now in Toronto, Canada. We have the 401 highway (and some other highways) were there are Express lanes and Collector lanes. I know I have chosen Faster route as the navigation option. However, I find that the Nuvi always takes me through the Collector lanes.

Has anyone noticed that the cost of the MSN GDB-50 power cable ($119.99) costs less than the FM Traffic GTM-20 power cable ($214.27). You can buy a Nuvi 760 for around $400 with the more expensive traffic cable & the Nuvi 780 sells for about $570 with the cheeper MSN cable.

If I remember correctly last summer (2007)I traveled to Yellowstone from Indiana and I could swear there was a category for campgrounds in the Garmin map data that I used several times. I have recently updated to the 2009 map and there is no campground listing except for a few under lodgings. Campgrounds that I found and visited last year are no longer in the map data.

I have the Nuvi 350. I see on the Map settings, Map Outlines (which is set to ON). I checked the manual, it just mentions to turn it on and off. What does it do?
I know the others, Detail, View, and Vehicle.

I am having a problem with the updated Dunken Donut POI. I have been using POI since April and have never had a problem with the 16 POI (including Dunken Donuts)in the past. Today, I was updating the rest area, red lights and a few others. They all loaded ok.

So I have multiple Garmin Nuvi units, but only one laptop. I installed Mapsource on it. I want to update the maps on each unit and have unlock keys for each unit. Do you simply add multiple unlock codes and it will automatically determine the appropriate unlock key needed for the specific unit? Or do I need to delete one key before adding another?

I was wondering if anyone has loaded the lake maps on the street pilot 340 with any sucess and how did they look. Ihad spoke with Garmin and they said that they would load but I would have decreased detail. I don't care about the depths I want to be able to save locations on the water and plot to them. Any suggestions?

I have a Nuvi 260W. In some of the post I read about 2D and 3D mapviews on th Garmin's GPS. I do not know what this is about, so I hope someone will explain it to me. Thanks.

First, I have a nuvi 660. I have read many of posts online (in FAQ and forums) but I am still having problems...

I have loaded several POIs without problems and I can see them under "Custom POIs" and see my custom graphic under the "map" fuction.

Question: As I travel to a specific address, can I see my custom POI's enroute (i.e. as I pass by on interstate for example)?

Do I need to update my Redlight Files every week?

Just tried to load a POI file to my Garmin.
Downloaded the POI loader to my MacBook and started the .app but it did not recognize my unit.
Is my Streetpilot just too old to download new POIs?

my daughter's nuvi 760 suddenly want power up - been used with automobile braket connected to cigarette outlet. Anyone have an idea ?

I came across these two Summer Olympics POI files from Garmin (http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/cache/offonce/us/services/f...), and would like to convert them to KML (or csv). However, unfortunately none of the gps converters I've tried recognize the GPI file. Any thoughts? Does Garmin have different types of GPI files? Do they ever encrypt their GPI files?

I just checked my 760 for updates using the web update software and there was one new update for the traffic receiver that I installed in the GPS unit. When I plugged the GPS unit into the car traffic power connection it installed the software.
