Garmin talk

Hi all;

New to the site (which is great). Anyone know how to get the proximity points menu on my Garmin to show up? I have the latest software and have the POI loader for mac.

Also: will proximity alerts work with csv files or do I need gpx files? thanks

I purchased a nuvi 200w approximately 9 months ago. I scanned the included POI that came in the unit, and noticed that more than a third in my area were obsolete or incorrect. Does Garmin ever update these files for download, or is the only option to purchase the new map with hopefully an updated POI file?

Anyone know any way to change the keypad to QWERTY on the Nuvi 660?

Hi guys: I just wanted to share my recent negative experience with Garmin, and am looking forward to your suggestions and/or feedback.

On Saturday, I upgraded the software on my 650. Now, when in navigation mode, the green information bar does not use control cities or the word Exit when giving information. For example, I used to receive information that said: "2 mi: Exit 20, Rt 85, Hopkinton, Milford" Now I get "2 mi, 20: rt 85"

I have downloaded the "SWcampgrounds" file and I can see all the sites in the downloaded file, however when I load it into the Nuvi, only the first site is displayed on my Nuvi 650 and none of the details of the site are displayed.

Is there a problem with the file format?

I have downloaded several other files that display normally.

Does anyone know how to make a POI for an elevated road. I have two roads one elavated about 20 ft. higher than the one on the ground. The speed limits are different and when I am on the elevated one the alarm sounds for the lower speed limit on the ground level one.

When I load a Custom Set of POI's in my Nuvi 660 Such as the wal-Mart file it loads ok but when i load another set of files they will delete the previously installed file. What am I doing wrong?

I just might have to sell my Nuvi 660 soon!!! Play the tutorial and be amazed!! Oh and the new vehicles it uses seem to work FINE on my Nuvi 660, check out the 800jet!!

Hi Everyone, First let me start of with I am a newbie. I sent Ms POI an update for a new Famous Dave's in my city. She updated the POI file. I downloded it and sent it to my nuvi 750. I cannot find the location on the nuvi under Custom POIs.

Has anyone had your Garmin announce "Road Closed Ahead. Recalculating."

The last time I used my 760 I got that announcement every few minutes. It did not change my routing and the road was not closed.

Anyone have any ideas?

I'm a newbie and have a Nuvi 650. I downloaded The Tennessee, South Carolina and Miss. state park files with campgrounds. When I go to EXTRAS the files are there but when I search for "RV" or "CAMPGROUNDS" I don't get any of them. Any Suggestions?

I have a Garmin c330. I recently purchased a lake lot and took my Garmin unit with me the first time I went. After I got there I wanted to set my location much like I do my home location and mark it as "Lake Lot". All I could find was a way to identify it as "002". The unit would not let me save it with a simple easy to remember name.

I would like to ask the community to check there states, for error's or missing locations in this file , i feel a fresh set of many eye's would bring some missed parks or errors to light . below is the site where i located all of the parks.

Maybe a little late cause I am leaving for Maui in 6 days but anyway, I am looking for some POI's for Maui. I have downloaded the Hawaii 2007 POI from this site, but noticed some additional folks had mentioned they would add to the list. If you have something and want to share it I will take it anyway you want to send.

Vacation bound

Noticed an oddity with my 760 the other day. I have my home location set a few feet into my driveway. That's where I was parked when I set the Home location. It's about 10 feet in from the street to where the Nuvi is in the car.

If I select "Go Home" it will say "in point 1 miles, arrive at home - on left" when I get approach my home.

I will soon be working out of state on a gas drilling rig. Typically, the rigs are "out in the sticks." Thinking of my wife visiting and my not having a street address to give her to put into her nuvi, will the nuvi find my work location out in the country if I give my wife the coordinates to put into it, just as it would if it had a street address? I've never tried it.

Sorry if this has been covered but I have a few questions. I did do some reading but missed the answers if they were covering in this forum.

1. What is the largest (meg/gig) SD card I use can use in my C340? -- I have the newest update to the garmin firmware.
