Garmin talk

when i plug my nuvi250w in my car the gps shows that i'm pluged into a pc. i tried the reset it still doing the same thing, i use the car power cord with a power pack and same thing again could is there an other way to make a factory hard reset so it would return to the original out of the box setting.Is there anyone who as a backup file,i didn't make one before i update it. thanks in advanced.

Whenever i tell my 205w to take me home, it'll do so on a specific roads, even if i choose divert, despite i know a better shortcut.Is there any way to specify the way i want my garmin to take me to my target?

Sure would be nice to see diesel prices along with gas prices with MSN. I see Tom Tom has that feature, unless it is only overseas. I left some feedback for MSN, but probably a usless effort. Any thoughts?

I just installed the new maps update from the cd 2009 in to mi garmin 660 and sad I found out hi didnt fix any of the road problem what was not in my garmin before install the maps is not ther after install the updated maps.Soon after I installed the up date my garmin started to frize wen plain the MP3 files.
Any body can help on this?

Does anyone know if Garmin monitors the POI Factory website? If not, it should as it is an excellent source of Garmin user feedback as to satisfaction or dissatisfaction with Garmin gps units. Also, a good source of suggestions for improvement. The Garmin blog promotes its products but does not discuss problems or fixes. This website educates Garmin gps users. Keep it up.

I have registered the unit with Garmin. I previously had the (lack of voice prompt issues) (figured it out) but I still don't get the traffic icon (2 green cars onscreen). If I have the unit connected to the car cigarette lighter cable and then I search under tools for the traffic option, it says go to garmin.com/fmtraffic and register my code????

I went on Garmin.com today to register my nuvi. During the registration it tried to update. It said to unplug from computer, what until it went back to where to screen the plug back in.
WELL IT NEVER DID. IT'S STUCK ON "LOADER LOADING..." WITH GARMIN SCREEN.

It won't turn off or respond to anything.

PLEASE HELP!!!

I need to replace my battery in the 750 nuvi. Rather than ship the whole unit to garmin, and paying the high price, I can get the battery online. But, anyone know how to open the 750 unit?

I was uploading some new POI files to my Nuvi 350 and it turns out that I accidently deleted all the pre loaded POI files, IE the ones that came shipped on the unit. Any idea how to get them back? I dont have access to the CD's that came with the unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, folks. Just joined POI Factory today. I got a new Garmin nüvi 760 a little over a week ago and really like the device. It's my first GPS unit, and I got it primarily for my wife who gets lost easily in unfamiliar places.

I use my nuvi 760 in my car and it is always in the cradle and plugged into power. When I take it out it says the battery is low.

I took it into the house today and charged it a few times for many hours using my AC adapter and now the battery says it is about 3/4 charged.

Has anyone had a similar problem? I will probably call tech support next week to see what they say.

I have a 265wt Nuvi with lifetime traffic how ever it has stopped working i have contacted Garmin and they have replied to update firm ware which is up to date also i live in the Toronto Canada area with has the traffic area coverage but it does not want to work has anyone else had this problem if so would like to here

Golly, I love my Garmin 350,but I think I want a newer model.So I bought a Garmin 255.Nice unit,but...
What units' plug the pwr cord into the cradle? ie 350.
The 255 pwr cable plugs into the unit not the cradle.
I like the pwr cord to cradle better. Note, I leave the cradle attached to my dash all the time and just remove the unit from the cradle to hide/not use it.

When using the Garmin 200W and attempting to import POI files, they are not seen by the Loader. I.e., the appropriate files (*.CSV) are visible in Browse but are grayed out. System is a Mac PPC, OS-X 10.4.11.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

219 MB of memory space on my nuvi 760 is occupied by voices I have no need for, but since I might want to sell the unit someday I don't intend to delete them.

Is there any harm in relocating them off the nuvi in the meantime?

im not really big into the stocks or movies times (thats cool, but ur supposed to know what you want to watch before you get in the car)

but im asking the most important-- which provides better traffic between the two??

ill be asking a lot of 'stupid' questions within the next few days because i believe im getting near my choice.. i appreciate your help fellas.

i just thought about this..

what if the garmin unit actually PROMPTS an "authenticating password" every lets say.. 6 or so months? it asks you certain security questions that only the owner would know. or maybe some code gets emailed to the owner and that needs to be typed in the garmin so that it can be 'activated'.

i know the dealio now are the nuvi 800 models with their voice recognition blah blah. anyone know some type of timeline as to when prices get low?
im really looking into the 700 models. the 800 stuff seem kinda lonely to actually TALK to the thing (just me).. but its not like i drive a super car either (i drive a freakn corolla)...

One thing that I find annoying with my nuvi 350 is that instead of reading out the actual street names, it reads out the county route numbers.
Granted, these streets are county routes, it's confusing because most street signs don't mention this number.
Is there any way to change the settings so that it uses the street names instead?

I just did my very first POI download/install. It was the Red Light/Speed camera ones. That leads to these questions which I hope you more experienced guys can answer:
1. There must be a limit as to how many POI's you can add. The Red Light/Speed camera ones totaled approximately 3,300 POI's. Am I approaching the limit?
