when i plug my nuvi250w in my car the gps shows that i'm pluged into a pc. i tried the reset it still doing the same thing, i use the car power cord with a power pack and same thing again could is there an other way to make a factory hard reset so it would return to the original out of the box setting.Is there anyone who as a backup file,i didn't make one before i update it. thanks in advanced.
You can hold your finger on
You can hold your finger on the bottom right hand side of the gps screen while powering up the gps.You will lose your favorites.Before doing hard reset You can save your favorites if you go to your Garmin drive and go to folder GPX and open it.Make copy of current gpx and save it.You will need to rename the current gpx file when you put back in the GPX folder after doing the hard re-set.

Not that I'm aware of. Typically, it's the pins on the cord.

When you say garmin power cord, is it the power cord supplied by Garmin or one that works with Garmin? The Garmin supplied power cords are not "true" mini-usb power cords used with other devices such as Razr phones or cameras.

Any reason the power cord is not plugged into the lighter socket?You said in your post you are using a power pack .

Use reset button if there is one - press and hold for several sec. If not, hold power switch to the left for 8 sec.
If you have Favorites or POIs, save before resetting.
Can you connect GPS to PC? Do you see E drive files?

Try sliding the
on/off switch too if it hasn't been fixed. One time I had it on lock and it prevented it from powering up while plugged in.
