Garmin 200W And POI File

Greetings,

When using the Garmin 200W and attempting to import POI files, they are not seen by the Loader. I.e., the appropriate files (*.CSV) are visible in Browse but are grayed out. System is a Mac PPC, OS-X 10.4.11.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

POI Loader asks you to point to the source FOLDER, not the FILE(s). That is why the files are greyed out.

Excellent, thank you!

I take it that since there appears to be no obvious means to delete Custom POI's from within the unit, that one can delete these through Finder?

Thanks again, much appreciated.

Poiloader gives you the option to add or delete custom pois. When you re-install pois it will overwrite the existing ones.

The best bet is to either use POI Loader (it offers POI removal as an option), or do what most of us do. If you run POI Loader it generates a file -- Garmin\POI\POI.gpi -- and it will overwrite any previous file. That means you must load all POIs every time you run the program. If you want to eliminate a file on the gps, just remove it from the computer (or move it out of the source folder) and run POI loader again without it.

Finally, if you delete the POI.gpi file using a Mac, it puts the deleted file in a folder named "Trashes" and the gps will continue to see and load the files. You must also empty the trash on the computer while the unit is attached to get rid of them. That is why I normally don't recommend the simple deletion via the Finder.
