The Nuvi 750 has not been out long enough to have a dead battery. I am really surprised that Garmin wouldnt replace the unit if it was totally dead. Have you done a search hear for battery reconditioning. there are a few places that tell you to charge it from the USB on the computer, if it is dead.

Do not recommend trying if it is still in warranty, but if out of warranty try looking at this Web site, they sell kits to replace the batteries in mostly anything. I don't show a replacement for the Nuvi 760 yet, but they shoudl be coming out with one sooner or later.

Sounds pretty involved. I probably wouldn't risk it. Either use it plugged in or pay someone with experience.

If you aren't bothered by cracking it open and changing the battery, I'd say do it yourself. I've done a few of my own devices, but my Nuvi is too new to need one. Though the idea of putting a higher capacity battery in it is kind of appealing.

Then again, I'm used to doing soldering on circuit boards for a hobby, and building small electronics is something I play with in my spare time. Though, I only risk breaking my own toys.

My first 750 had a battery that was good for about 15 minutes. Garmin replaced it under warranty. The replacement at one time got hung up and I could not do anything with it, nor turn it off. the only solution was to crack the case open and disconnect the battery. I used a putty knife. It was easy to pull the plug and reconnect it. Its been working fine ever since. The message is, if the 750 is out of warranty, battery replacement is easy. Just open the case, pull the plug and put a new battery in. Most replacement batteries come with a tool to open the case.

The Garmin part number for the Nuvi 7xx battery is 361-00019-12. Search on that number and several vendors will come up with a replacement.
