7x5's are affected with traffic bugs too.

Out of curiosity, what specifically is your traffic problem? How long did it work before it stopped?

I get the traffic info, but the unit won't use it for routing or alert me to upcoming traffic or traffic on a route. I have the 265wt as well.

The problem with mind is that the icon is not showing up in the top left corner , it was and was working great it would change to orange if the traffic was getting heavy now i have nothing there at all i used it about a week ago then today it is not working

See this post http://www.poi-factory.com/node/19870 one member saying coverage only Monday through Friday from 6 am to 7 pm for your area.Maybe you are not getting a signal.I know when the icon stop showing on my unit I had gotten out of the coverage area.Once back in zone it appeared.

When you done the update did you go on to the second screen?I remember when updating my unit that was the update location for the traffic receiver.

May that is what is wrong because i have been trying it after 7pm and on Saturday thanks Charles45

You know the problem now.By any chance did you ask them about the time frame you receive FM traffic when it is working?Just curious if the Monday through Friday is correct.

Thank You so much for posting the above info. I seriously thought that my Nuvi 265WT was defective. I called up Garmin and the agent I was talking to me definitely did not know the above information. He gave me the contact for their service centre in Quebec and asked me to send in my unit for repair. I wonder why the agent I talked to did not know such an important piece of information that Toronto Tower is down? Hope the service is up soon. Lets sound everyone once the service is up.

My traffic icons on my main map( icon with 2 cars) stopped working about a week ago, after working fine for 2 weeks from when I purchased the unit on jan 25. The TS told me to send the unit in for repair. If the traffic towers are down, they should surely know about this. It must be the case since everyones traffic stopped working about the same time

I have spoken to Gamin re Navtec traffic and it is correct they only have it running between the hrs of 6am to 7pm Monday to Friday

Have any of you ever been able to use the "Traffic on Route" option to pull up traffic on your route?

I can never seem to get it to give me the traffic delay info for my route by searching or on the main map like this page shows:

If you do have it working, could you tell me your firmware version?

Traffic on route only works if the icon is yellow or red, if the icon is green there is no traffic on your route. You can search for traffic and it will give you traffic conditions off your route by distance. If the icon is green you should be able to search and find some traffic delays somewhere, I have observed some that were at the far end of the service area away from my location.
Do you get any traffic information at all or just the sub menu's when you tap the traffic icon?

I'm not sure if its related to the 2009.11 updated maps or the fact that I have that set loaded on an SD card. If I disable the "on unit" maps and use the updates on the card, the unit can't seem to "map" the traffic onto the maps. If I disable the the SD card maps and use the on unit maps the problem goes away. I'm going to put identical map sets on both the unit and the card and see if its an issue about maps being on the card or if its the 2009.11 updates.

My guess is that the traffic info only "maps" to the map set named "gmapprom.img", or the primary map set.

It appears that I only have the issue when "gmapprom.img" and the SD card "gmapsupp.img" are both present, then the traffic info won't work with the SD card maps. If I rename "gmapprom.img" to "gmapprom.img.orig", the traffic data works fine with with the 2009.11 update that is on the card. If I name the "gmapprom.img.orig" back to "gmapprom.img", the traffic data won't work with SD card map.

I can't test having the original 2009 maps active on both the unit and the SD card because the unit can't seem to separate them, only one entry shows up in the Map Info page.

So it would seem that the unit checks to see if there are any maps at "gmapprom.img", if yes it applies the traffic data to that, if no it checks the "gmapsupp.img" on the SD card for maps, if yes it applies the traffic data to that.

Anyway, I found myself an answer.

I just purchased this unit yesterday and it automaticly downloaded the map updates when i registered it. I have the maps on the unit, not on the SD card. So is it safe to say this traffic feature should function properly then?

I believe so.

When I registered my 260W I was able to only update my firmware from Registration screen. I had to go to MyMaps to get my free map update.

The 265W may be different - just want to make sure you got your free Map update.

Does any one know if the Navteq in Toronto Canada is up and working yet ?

I had the no traffic problem (reported on another thread here) and as of 4pm it is working again. I was in the Mississauga area and the icon was onscreen again.

I just bought this unit and have never been successful in getting the traffic icon on the maps screen. I live in the northern DE area and should have coverage through the Philly area through Navteq. I have the latest map update 2009.1 and software version 4.80. Any insight is welcomed.

If the green icon is not showing that usually means that you are out of the coverage area.According to the map for Philly you should have coverage.Maybe you should try the new update 5.00 and see what happens.See post http://www.poi-factory.com/node/21138 I do remember one user after calling Garmin he had to do a reset on the gps unit.

I'll call garmin on the way home today from my commute. In the meantime how do you reset the unit?, and if I do will I lose all my favorites and pictures?

265WT does not have inbuilt traffic receiver. What does that mean is you have to plug the charger in the cigarette lighter for traffic to appear on your GPSrs.

Just wanted to ask... Is everyone who does not see icon in their GPSrs, plugging in their Traffic Receiver (DC Adapter) in their cigarette lighter?

I am seeing Traffic Icon (Two Green Cars) even on nights and weekends everywhere I go, if I plug in my adapter. It disappears, as soon as the Traffic Receiver is removed from the cigarette lighter.

If you do a reset you will lose your favorites and any settings you changed.You can hook your gps unit up to the computer and open up the Garmin folder.Click on Gpx folder (this is your favorites).Make copy of current.gpx and save it.After reset re-install it back but change the name to something else but keep the extension.

Hard re-set is done by holding two fingers on the bottom right of the gps screen while you power up the gps unit.Like I stated before this was suggestion from Garmin to another 265 owner.May not apply to your problem.

Understood. I am seeing the traffic icon appear under settings with the adapter plugged in only and navteq is enabled. That is not the issue as stated. I just don't see the green car on the maps page like you are seeing. I'll update to version 5 tonight and if all else fails per Charlie's suggestion I'll do a reset.

just bought a 265wt. i've had it now for 5 days. i did the updates upon registration. i believe the firmware is 4.80 and the maps is something like 2009.1. i'm still in the learning process about poi's, loading poi's, custom poi's, etc... i'm glad i got this model because you get a lot for the price. i'll keep an eye on this traffic issue, so far mine hasn't disapeared.

The new update is 5.00.Run webupdater and it will find the update for you.The 265 is a nice unit.Just in case you have not discovered it yet.You can assign catergories for favorites like custom pois.

I updated to 5.0 and no deal. No traffic icon. Garmin said that resetting the device would not fix the issue so I'm holding off for now pending more feedback. Garmin said it could take 35 to 40 minutes to get a signal so I just might drive to Philly after work and see how it goes. If all else fails I guess I can return to the vendor and get another unit although Garmin says there is nothing wrong with the unit. Does anyone else live in the DE area. Specifically near New Castle toward the southern fringes of the Navteq network( according to their coverage map)?
