nuvi 360 gives much less travel distance and much earlier arrival time

I am a newbie here. Got a new nuvi 360 about 8 months ago and updated map at that time. The first time that I noticed this problem was about 7 months ago, when driving from RTP to Fayetteville, NC, google map showed about 80 miles, but the nuvi 360 only had less than 50 miles and within one hr travel time. Recently, when planning to go to Virginia Tech, google map showed a fastest route of 222 mile and 3 hr and 40 minutes, but my 360 gave me a 133 mile distance and less than 3 hr driving time. It has been working fine locally.

Anybody has any similar experience? Thanks for any input.

Which one was correct?

Which distance was correct? Did they give you the same route?

Google map was right

My tomtom navigator 6 (palm centro) gave the same as google map (and also Yahoo map).

Miles

I'm not for sure but I'm under the impression that in favorites it shows air miles but when traveling you touch the arrival screen then you can see driving miles. This is my understanding of it.

The miles shown (In your favorites) is 'as the crow files'....
This is because the route is not calculated.

You can see this difference when you hit 'go'.
Let the geepus calc the route then compare the distance. You'll find that the calc'd route is always longer than what you see in your favorite listing.

I have recently noticed some significant "inflations" with Google Maps.

You might want to try another mapping site, just for comparison.....like Mapquest or AAA, if you are a member.
