Garmin talk

Usint WebUpdater, I just now hooked up my 765t. I have as a option, a update called "GPS Chipset Type M". I googled for it. There is some info on it, but doesnt really address whether it will help my unit or not, or what it will do. Has anyone here got the update, if so, did you have any problems or improvements? I kinda feel like if it isnt broke, dont fix it.

Any such beast exist? I'm thinking about something that would keep hands-free while walking down city streets. Needing to have the antenna flipped up for the unit to function is a complication, of course.

I was thinking maybe a neck strap, or something for the arm--sort of like an iPod armstrap:

I have a garmin 265WT and downloaded the rest area files and placed them on the garmin. Now for the dumb question. Is the file suppose to inform me of the next road side rest while traveling. I made a trip from South Caroline to Detroit and never heard any mention of a rest area the whole trip. I am new at this so please be easy on me. Thanks in advance

Just connected my nuvi 760 to Garmin an I receive an unidentified firmware update. I downloaded 4.90 a week after it came out and Garmin verified it as it was listed along with 2010.30 maps. It just showed that I had an update, it was not voices or anything like that. Anyone else get that or know what it was?

Do you have a Nuvi 1490t and do you have problems typing on the keyboard. I have problems with several keys but the letter "A" seems the worst. I have tried touching the "A" key with every part of my index finger and most of the time it won't take.
Any ideas?

A buddy of mine has been looking for a gps.
He was talking about a few others..but I convinced him to go with a garmin.

Got a call from him while he was at Fry's..they wanted 349 for the 765t. (He said he had to call his gadget consultant.. )
I told em NO!! Tiger direct has it for 209. Price match it!
They said they would...but no 'manager' to 'approve it'.

I've read a lot about the touchscreen issues with the 765 since I was considering this model for a few weeks, and I purchased one yesterday evening. I've already noticed the issue when keying an address. I went to press the top right and it pressed something two keys down.

Just a new question from a Newbie. Does the 205W support POI with ICONS and MP3's? If there is a site with information ... please send me to it.

I'd loaded this site's red light camera file into my nuvi 350 and gave it a test. I approached an intersection I knew had a camera, and it gave me the alert.

But on a return trip, the GPS was silent. Why would it give me an alert westbound though the intersection, but not eastbound through the same one?

I know this is a dumb question but what to the poi's with sounds do? I been looking but haven't came acrossed it yet, any links to this subject would be appreciated to save you typing time. Thanks

I went out for a walk with my Nuvi 350--not because I needed it, but because, well, it's a fun gadget.

I set it to Pedestrian mode and entered a destination.

Anyone know why Garmin isn't making new GPS Vehicles?

does 275 model play alert sounds (MP3, WAV) for POI ?

cannot find such information anywhere and would like to know if my GPS will play a sound alery for certains POIs ?

when loading POI files I always include BMP bitmap file and alert sound file (MP3 or WAV), all files named same (except extension of course). still haven't heard that yet.

I've just purchased the 265WT; I've updated the firmware, but haven't registered it yet, because I wanted to try it out first.

I plugged the cord into the car's lighter receptacle, installed the unit into the friction pad mount, and set out on a trip to a nearby city, a distance of about 60 miles.

I own a nuvi 680 and a nuvi 265t. I have purchased two numap lifetime cards, one for each unit. Do I have to download a map for each unit when there is an upgradeed map available? Is there any way to download one map and load it on to both units? I also sent this question to Garmin, but thought I would pose the same question here to see how some of you handle it.

This past weekend I was TRYING to download the latest maps on my Nuvi 255W. But my computer kept saying "finding device"? For some reason it was not recognizing my unit.any suggestions?
