I have a friend who's been bad mouthing the GPS units saying that all he needs is a map to get around. Well, I loaned him my Garmin 255W to locate a cousin who lived in the city. He had the cousin's address. When he got back, he liked it so much that he didn't want to give my Garmin back.

Hard to believe it has been 2 years since I first bought my Garmin 760 and joined POI Factory. Both are worth their weight in cold. POI Factory has been a fantastic forum. Don't know what I would have done without it. Thanks to Miss POI and everyone for making htis such a fantastic tool

How can I change the opening screen from the Garmin logo to the logo for my vehicle, like the start up for factory units?

Any help would be appriciated.

Do they make a converter adapter to convert the cigarette lighter power plug to the Garmin 765T's body? I don't use the suction cup mount, so I want to bypass the mount adapter that the cig lighter power adapter plugs into. This way, the mount adapter isn't needed.

If there isn't a converter adapter available, has anyone tried making one yet?

Trying to load POI's onto my 255WT with a 2 Gig. card. Whatever POI I come to first will ding my unit, the icon will show up on the map and there after nothing shows or dings. It's like the first POI deactivates the subsequent POI's, I'm sure that I'm missing something really simple, just can't figure it out.

I have been using my Nuvi 265Wt for about 3 weeks now and have been loading custom poi's with the poi loader from Garmin. I use it to geocache and load geocache files through GSAK. Until yesterday everything was working fine. i would load the file go out and cache and then come back and delete the file, no problem.

I have had the Nuvi765T for a wopping 2 days now and, while it worked fine yesterday, today I can't update the GPS with anything. When I plug the USB cable in, it says loading maps at the bottom of the screen. Windows makes the sound like it detected it, but then it loads the regular navigation software, never letting me have access to it with the computer. Has anyone else had this problem?

I've seen several posts of people discussing the accuracy of the traffic information provided by their GPS (NAVTEQ, I believe?). There seem to have been quite a few complaints about the information not being up-to-date, and I was wondering if you would share your personal experiences with this feature.

I don't think the model of the GPS matters, but please post some information about:

Is there anyway to get all of my custom POIs to show on the map? All I can see is the one I've selected to either Go To, or to Map. The other ones only show up when I am zoomed in to 200 ft. or tighter.

I know how to hide the trip recorder line, reset trip records, but can't erase the blue lines on roads once I've driven them, only hide them. Afraid to do reset because of my POI files. Did search on Garmin, the manual and read FAQ here with no luck. Would like to start trip with a clean map and have a new blue track at end of day. Thanks for any help

i installed a Garmin update for traffic on my Nuvi 660 a week ago and ever since, I don't see the red, green, and yellow colors on the roads indicating where the traffic is and what it's severity level is. I went out to the Garmin site and checked the details for the update and it says, "Fixed issue where traffic lines were drawing on top of roads."

Got a 4Gb SD card today... Decided to create new music Disk....

Prior to today, I was using a 1Gb SD card.. and the 1 Gb card was nearly full with music.

When I got the 4Gb card.. I left the rock in the root directory, and created a second directory, JAZZ, and put all my Jazz in that directory....

During of the 3 month 'Demo' of traffic... I never saw a thing... And I live in Chicagoland....

When I approached Garmin for more information and maybe a 2nd demo.... NO WAY!!!
When I purchased Lifetime traffic last week... I did so with a bit of concern....

I connected the Unit, currently completed up-to-date with firmware etc, to a AC Source, then hit the following options:

From the Map menu
Hit the "Driving" or "arrival" beside the MENU.
HOLD the km/h or mp/h speedometer for about 10 seconds
I am not sure what to do with this but anyways, it seems to give a lot of info.

I've made an interesting discovery about my 775T. While on a long night drive last week, I had to turn down the brightness to 10%. However, at daylight, the unit went back to 100% backlighting. I thought that was very cool that it remembered the settings!

As well, I've found that the unit remembers your zoom level between uses if you don't clear 'My Data'. Again, very cool.

I recently loaded a Wachovia bank poi file into my nuvi 765.Now every time i get close to a wachovia bank i get an alert. Cannot figure out why. CVS file looks normal no hidden symbols. Can anybody out there Help! I changed the name of the file etc
