Problem installing POI Loader

I'm trying to install the Garmin POI Loader on my PC running Windows 7. Part-way through the install process, a pop-up states that the install cannot continue unless I can point to the 'MAIN.msi' file from a previous installation of the POI Loader....

Now, I installed a version of POI Loader on a different computer a number of years ago to use with my eTrex VentureC hand-held GPSr, but uninstalled the program (I thought)when I migrated my data to the new computer. The old POI Loader does not show up in my list of programs, and a search for 'MAIN.msi' turns up nothing, the the current POI Loader software insists on my finding this file or else it won't finish the install.

Help! All thoughts/comments are welcome!!

Check Control Panel

Start up Control Panel and Uninstall a Program. See if Garmin POI Loader is in the list of installed programs. Remove that program and you should be able to reinstall. If not, C:\Garmin should have POI Loader.exe in it along with other language dll's for POI Loader. Cut & Paste those to a backup folder and see if you can reinstall.

This might be worth a shot - try the Windows Installer cleanup utility and see if it shows the old item listed. If so, remove it with the tool.

Here's how:

1.Download the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility from the Microsoft Download Center - http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-4...
2.Locate and run msicuu2.exe to install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.
3.Locate and launch the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility on the Start menu.
4.From the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility window, locate the application in the list and click the Remove button.
5.Once the application has been removed, click the Exit button to close the utility.

You may now reinstall the application.
