I just returned to Phoenix from my Phoenix-Las Vegas-Phoenix commute and saw the usual DPS Mobile Speed Vans on the 93 near Hoover Dam. This mobile camera unit was supported by a DPS marked unit that was actually stopping a Ford pick-up just before the Speed Camera van. I have never seen enforcement like that in all of my commutes.

I'm 'in the market' for a handheld unit for hiking, fishing, and camping. I was looking at the Garmin GPSMap 60Cx, but now I'm leaning towards the Garmin Oregon.

Does anyone know about these units and willing to offer their opinions?

I have a Garmin Nuvi 265wt and am quite happy with it, so I'm leaning towards Garmin; but I'm also open to other manufactures.

I downloaded several POI's from this site exactly as instructed, onto a new folder on my desktop. When I transfer them to my nuvi 760 SD card only the last file transferred appears on my 'extras' list. Am I doing something wrong? Tx

I have a Volvo XC60 that has a dealer installed Garmin Nuvi 765. Does anyone know how to remove the "I AGREE" mandatory touch welcome screen and the second screen for acknowledging that it is not safe to operate while driving?

Is there any way to have the Garmin gives an alarm when you exceed a set speed?

The Garmin GDB-50 for MSND is on clearance at Best Buy for $52. It comes with 1 year of service. I know MSND is shutting down by 2012. Is this worth getting? Is there any use for these receivers after MSND shuts down .. ie can I subscribe to TTN or Navteq later on with these receivers?

BTW I have a Nuvi 855 and this receiver is compatible with the device.

I have within the past several months purchased a Garmin 265wt. Everything I have read recently about this unit says it is suppose to say the name of the street when giving directions. Mine does not. All it speaks out is, to turn right, in .02 miles, as an example.

Now that MSN has bit the dust, is there any way to remove the MSN butterfly from my 680? Just a thought..

How will that affect POI Loading, and is there a new loader for W7? The version I have is: 2.5.3.0

hello
i am just new to this discussion board and to a nuvi 265wt.
i have had a c330 for several years.
i have tried many times to dowload poi's and putting them on the nuvi 265, (never tried on the c330).
whenever i try i get a message saying that the folder has no files.
i may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but this has been an exercise in futility start to finish.

is it possible to add additional waypoint symbols to MapSource?

From what I've read, POI symbols can be added to via POI loader.

What if I just want to add the icon?

I have a nuvi 255W. When I am on a trip and it has a scheduled turn at the intersection that also happens to have a red light camera, I get the "Turn right at..." messages, but I don't get the red light camera "Bong! Bong!" alarm. I ran this path three times with the same results.

When I go to the 885T Hidden menu a button comes up that says Mic Gain. When I push it another window comes up that says ADC Capture Volume. and I can adjust it to go higher or lower, What is it ?

I just bought the new MS Streets & Trips (2010). 2 new things that I really like:

I'm planning to upgrade to Windows 7 and do a clean install. Where do I find a copy of my current map for my nuvi 760? I downloaded a free update when I first purchased the nuvi. Should I copy a file off the nuvi itself?

Just went into Webupdater and there was a new update for my 265T. Version 6.0 is now posted at Garmin. Couple of minor changes.

I just canceled my MSN Direct subscription and need to replace the cable with an FM receiver type. I'm looking at eBay and see that some GTM-20's are set up to receive Navteq and others are set up for Clear Channel. Which is better? I live in the greater NYC area. I also spend time in Montreal and Orlando/Daytona Beach area.

Has anyone tried to load any custom icons into the GPSMAP 76csx ? If so, what size and are they .bmp files? A step by step with any specialized programs would also help.
