Garmin talk

Found out someone at work has a Garmin 660.
She was kind-of down on it, for reasons she wasn't clear on.... She had not seen any others, or longed for a specific feature the 660 didn't have... My gut feeling was that she felt it was just "old" and never really found out what it could do.

Hi - If I find a POI in my Nuvi 265WT and save it as a favorite, it always displays on the map. Is there a way to disable that somehow? My map is getting a bit cluttered...

One of my 255s is having screen calibration problems. I forgot which corner to press to do a calibration and reset it by mistake. I had to recategorize all of my Favorites. Very time consuming and cumbersome on the nuvi. Can it be done with Map Source? I can't see how.

On my wifes 265t, the spoken directions are exact opposite of the actual shown directions. Only happens in large metropolitain areas, like Birmingham, AL and Atlanta, GA. So the next turn shows left, and Jack says "turn right". It has happened through the past two map updates. Running current version from WebUpdater. I have tried hard reset. Tried the reset by holding the power switch over.

I went to the webupdater and there when I got to the last page where the updates were, the first line on top show this: GPS CHIPSET TYPW M HOTFIX DATA; is this a fix for a problem that the Gps 855 has. Should I download this.

I know that putting redlight behind a poi will give you an alert within a 1/4 mile, but what if you wanted it to alert you withing 5 miles like a rest area?

Unless I'm doing something wrong, I don't think that MapSource can use Custom POI files -- WalMart, Rest Areas, etc. If this is true, it is a useless piece of software for me.

If I'm wrong, please point me in the right direction.

In an attempt to pick POIs from the map on my 1490T, I am finding it difficult to move or scroll the map to pick a point. I drag my finger across the map and sometimes it moves, but more than not, it doesn't. Sometimes it places an arrow after touching the screen, usually where I don't want it. Can anyone direct me as to how to move the map around when searching?

Has any one been able to fix the ariel on the Garmin 660.
Mine no longer works. I have been able to still use the unit by putting a small wire in the external ariel port,

At one point I found a web site that discussed the repair but can not find it again.

It is not worth ordering a new one from the US because of the shipping costs.

I have a c330 that I only use occasionally for long trips. It gets used maybe once a month. It's about 3 years old.

Is it worth it to get new maps for it? Are there alot of changes or is it mostly just POI's and stuff?

Can custom routes from map source be put on the nuvi3790t, and if yes how can you do it. Should you be able to? It says that they were transferred but their not on the unit. I use this for work also and am finding it to be a big letdown for the price!!!!!!!!

I am trying to locate a bean bag mount for GPS 3790T. I don't like using the suction cup type. The suction cup has the speaker built in, so the bean bag mount will have to have this. Can the holder be transfer to the bean bag mount.

Has anyone heard when the 2011 maps will be out? I know the portables can be updated online, but I have an indash, and Garmin won't allow the online update.

Changes made from version 2.20 to 2.50:

* Fixed an issue that could cause a hourglass to display indefinitely during an address search.
* Fixed an issue that could cause a shutdown if viewing the Trip Planner page at the exact second that the trip is scheduled to begin.

I've got a 755 that won't charge in any of our vehicles. The fuse in the cigarette adapter is ok (I changed it anyway). I want to know if it is the charger OR a problem in the mount itself. Has anyone tested these with a multimeter to determine which one is bad?
My alternative is to just get a regular car charger that works through the mini usb port.

I recently upgraded my GPS from a Garming C530 to a Nuvi 1450. The 1450 supports serial destinations via the "route" function (I think), but I haven't quite got the hang of it yet.

I want to start at my HOME, go to POINT A then to POINT B, then back to my HOME. How do I do that?

I'm looking for a bicycle "Vehicle" for my NUVI. Does anyone know where I can get one. Garmin has one, but I'm not impressed.

traveling around CT this weekend and something interesting happened to my Nuvi 750. Not sure of the exact sequence of events, but may have had to do with plugging in the unit in response to a low battery warning.

Here's my first post and it's not pretty. I'm seeking others who've had this happen and let this serve as a warning to others.

I recently found my nuvi 760 dead. It tried to start up again but would shut down on 'loading maps' Then it never even started. I thought battery and replaced the battery but nothing.

OK, so I bought the one time update from Garmin and they sent the DVD. It was for 2011.10 but as we know, 2011.20 was released (the next day after I bought the DVD for 2011.10). When this DVD arrived, it connected to the internet and said there was a later version available than what was on the DVD and gave me the choice to install either the download or the DVD.
