Garmin talk

It is not clear to me what Garmin does with traffic info. If I have quickest route preferred, does the 1490T automatically reroute due to traffic conditions?

I was confused for a while when my new 1490T was routing me to side roads when driving down the Interstate (get off at one exit, take some side roads and get back on the Interstate).

I'm new to this and have a question. I downloaded a POI along with an icon. After installation, should the new icon appear under the Point of Interest icon on my Garmin or just show up on the map as you're driving? Thanks in advance for any help!

I just converted from a C530 to a Nuvi 1450 and am very happy with the new box. What I haven't been able to figure out yet are how the Lane Assist and Junction View functions work.
The vast majority of time when I'm merely navigating from Point A to Point B, I use one of my custom POI's. All of my custom POI's are in .csv files, so I pick the one I want and away I go.

Right now, I have a Garmin 360 but I am looking to buy a Garmin 1300. Can anyone please give me some advice if I should or shouldn't buy the Garmin Nuvi 1300? Currently, Walmart sold Garmin Nuvi 1300 4.3' for $118.00
Next month I'll be travel to Texas from California so therefore I need a new Garmin, hopeful something more reliable then the one I currently have.

not only did the HD unit prove to be garbage but it has now, somehow, screwed up the proper functioning of the old ecoroute "game" and gas mileage calculator.

At 45 mph I used to read 99 on the challenge...it now reads 1-5...my gas mileage used to be within about 7% it now appears to be about 25% too high...I am going to try to undo the firmware update...will report back.

Could someone backup their help, text and keyboard folders to a zip folder and post a link or send through a private message? I thought I could re-download the contents of these folders via webupdater but that's not the case.

I am looking at a 765T as I want all the features it has listed, especially MP3.

Does the 765T have an earphone jack? I want to be able to patch into an RF modulator so I can route the sound through FM radio.

Also, can I llsten to MP3s while a route is being navigated? Will the spoken instructions override the MP3 when necessary?

Just talked to Garmin support. There is a problem with the 2010.20 map update that affects all 37xx Nuvi models.
The result is that no map update is available for these units today.

Garmin is working on a patch, which should be available in a day or so that will allow owners of the 37xx units to download the 2011.20 map update.

I just saw on SlickDeals that Amazon.com today has the 1450T, with NuMaps Lifetime included, for $199.99. Could be a good deal for someone who has been waiting?

I not looking to delete things from the recently found but the drop down menu that remembers cities (or places if looking via the POI section.

This must have been discussed previously but I can't find it. I just purchased the Lifetime Map Update and updated successfully, though I haven't tested my unit yet (it's 1:45 am right now...) My question is, when I go to the Garmin website, under myAccount > Map Downloads, it says that my "product" expires on Jul 28, 2011. How is that?

my HD arrived the other day and I had to wait until tonight to try it. I had many great expectations for this unit...really was looking forward to having the enhanced information. I read the directions, plugged it in, turned the car on...it took a while to connect but connect it did...have to admnit it was very cool...right up until it shut itself down.

I am totally new with GPS and have just purchased a refirbed 755T. I am trying to save a map from mapquest to my GPS but am having no luck, infact I can't save it in GPX or CSV. Is there a sticky or step by step some where?
Any help to get me on the right trail wil be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

I recently did a Mapquest Route and it shows it being uploaded to my Nuvi 260. Where does this Route appear on my GPS when I want to use it? I thought is was under "Favorites" but I don't see it.

I was using my Nuvi 200 tonight when I noticed that the display was delaying showing my position. It would just freeze for a few seconds, then catch up, freeze again and then catch up. It works fine in the map mode( no destination entered). Any ideas? Thanks everyone.

How do I get the sounds that I download from this site to work on the Garmin 255W? I've changed the sound file name to match the POI file name but all I hear is the standard 'beeb-beeb' alert sound. Is there some setting that I'm missing? Thanks.

Bought a refurb 1490t off of ebay. Spent 45 minutes on the phone with garmin to get my map update (currently on 2010.10). On mygarmin.com it says at the top

nüMaps Onetime™ City Navigator® North America NT 2011.

I haven't loaded this onto my nuvi yet. I was wondering If I wait till the 2011.20 update, would I be able to download that instead?
