I purchased a bundled 1490t. Will I be able to use the lifetime map card on another nuvi? I don't want to use it on the new nav, but on an older one that I own.

Is it better to load custom POIs to your SD card or to the GPS? I know room wise it would be better, but if posting to the SD card, will the POIs still show up in Extras, and will they still function the same?

The recalled devices include a small subset of the following nuvi model numbers:

I am running into a strange issue. I have been creating GPX files using Extra_POI_Editor and then loading them with the GARMIN POI loader.

Lately all my GPX files have a 0.2 mi proximity alert for every POI in the file.

I definitely don't have proximity points in the file, and I load the GPX files in Express mode, so I am not manually updating the proximity alerts.

Just saw this article why browsing the web:

They are talking about a potential fire hazard with overheating batteries. It appears the 200W, 250W, 260W, 7xx and 7xxT (where xx is a two-digit number) model numbers may be affected.

Whatever covers the screen is flaking off, any suggestions on how to remedy or repair.

My 255W was accidentally dropped from about 5 feet The screen is severely cracked and basically the device is non-operational. It will however power up. Is there any way I can retrieve the locations, maps, and other data? I'd like to use that information on either another 255W or some other Garmin model.

When I had my Tomtom, I could select to have selected POI, like fuel or resturants, be displayed on the map as you drive. As I was driving along, I would see these selected POIs show up along the road on the 3D map as I drove.

I have downloaded several POI files(KFC, Burger King etc)but the icons appear about one quarter the size of the pre-loaded icons and barely visible. New to this so suspect finger trouble. Any ideas as to where I might be going wrong.

Hello. I put sox.exe in the c:\Garmin directory and the audio alert portion of my Custom POI works just fine. It's the icon that doesn't show up (I used the icons here, to make sure they were the proper size.).

I know how to use POILoader, but for some reason no icons.

I am concerned my voice files may have become corrupt.
I do have a backup but not of all the files.

Web updater will only show me foreign files.

Is there anyway I can force it to download ALL the voices?
If not can someone provide me with a copy of them?
Any 1xxx nuvi is compatible.

I have a Kenwood head unit which has a built-in Garmin GPS which I've hooked up a GTM10 to. I purchased the Clear Channel and Navteq subscriptions for it so that it would work anywhere there is traffic data.

About 2 weeks ago my traffic went from lots of things happening to 'No Data'.

The FM reception is fine (3-bars).

Leaving tomorrow for Maui. Will be renting a minivan and bringing my Nvui 765T. Staying at Kaanapali.

Any tips, suggestions, advice from those who visited recently? Anyone drove up Haleakala or the Hana highway? Children friendly restaurants? Must see sights?

I haven't looked very hard, but I haven't noticed that when in a route with multiple via points (temporary stops), that the route list shows the ETA to the via points.

Have I missed it or does the nuvi not provide that information like my old SP2610 does?

Each time I plug my nuvi 3790T in to my laptop (running Windows 7 Professional, with all the latest updates and drivers) a screen pops up that says:
"Do you want to scan and fix Garmin nuvi (H:)?"
"There might be a problem with some files on this device or disc. This can happen if you remove the device or disc before all files have been written to it."
It then gives me two options:

I just purchased my first navigator. Great machine but would like to have a couple of different voices on it.Downloaded Yoda from pigtones, plus the downloader.Voice would not play. Any suggestions where I went wrong.Keeps saying could't find extension???
