update questions (1390T)

Just updated my Garmin 1390T for the first time since life time update purchase, and lost all favorites. Also no longer have the voice of Jack. Now only lists voice of Jill who I cant understand. How do I get Jack and favorites back?

HHHmmmm Thats not good

I am in the process of upading my 1390T now, How ever I backed up all the voices and i currently use Lee the Australia.

Maybe I can export the voice file and give it back to you.

Ok I actually have the files on a seperate drive how can i give them to you.

Also have you tryied the WEB Updater to see if the English Jack is listed in there and have WEB updater put it back on the unit.

The Favorites are gone if you didn't back them up.

Map updates

Map updates shouldn't affect your Favorites. \

In fact, I'm not even sure what you would have done to delete the favorites .... unless you deleted files in preparation for downloading and updating the new map.

Always good to back up your info before updating. To back up favorites, use mapsource to import and save your favorites to your computer.

From Garmin help. Why were my favorites deleted from my nuvi, StreetPilot, or zumo after running the map update?

When updating your maps, if the device is not current on firmware you will be asked to update your unit's software. When updating your firmware there is a possibility of deleting your favorites. Before running any software, firmware, or map updates it is suggested to backup your favorites. Please follow the link below for steps on how to backup your favorites:

Charlie. Nuvi 265 WT and Nuvi 2597 LMT. MapFactor Navigator - Offline Maps & GPS.

The Easy Way...

I use EPE to open, and then back up my faves to my POI file on the computer with all the rest. That way, I cover myself 2 ways:

• if my file gets deleted with a reset, I can easily throw the GPX back on the unit, and

• the faves file is on my card with the rest of my POI's after I load them. No loss at all if on a trip, and no computer around.

I hope it works for you as well as it does for me.
