Custom POIs to show on map

I want the rest areas to show up on the map while we're driving. How do you do that? Can anyone point me in the right direction

What make/Model of GPS do you have

They all have slightly different interfaces

Displaying Custom POI

You can display icons showing where custom POI are located by including an icon file when you load th POI to your unit.

There are several great FAQ procedures here on how to load icons, two of the better ones are by jgermann and charlesd45.

Scale a problem

As Box Car just mentioned, you can get Icons to show up on your GPS by loading Custom POIs along with a .bmp file named the same as the .csv/.gpx file except for the extension.

HOWEVER, because you have to be at a map scale of, say, 200 feet or less for the Icons to show up, I do not think you would be happy with the results. You just do not see enough map for highway driving, IMO.

AGAIN HOWEVER, one of our members Gary Hayman has a trick that might just do what you want. Follow this link

and scroll down to "ACT III SMALLVILLE"

Why don't you try it and see if doing so will accomplish what you are after.
