Garmin talk

I uploaded the .csv files and related .mp3 files for speed traps and red light cameras using the POI loader but the unit does not give voice alerts.

The same uploads on a 650 work, calling out "Speed Trap Ahead" and "Red light camera ahead".

Do I need to have the sound files in another format?

I,m new to webb site. I down loaded custom POI for

walmart and sams. Installed it correctly. When I pulled up a certain Walmart location, screen didn,t show "Go". How should these custom POI work. I saw the cemetary tutorial on this webb site, I was under the assumtion they work like the tutorial.

I just used Jill yesterday for the first time since I updated to the new map.

While I have just the map up with no route, on the top bar the unit is calculating from 1 to 100% constantly. As soon as it reaches 100% it starts all over again. This is covering up where the names of the upcoming streets are.

Anyone know what is going on. Do I have something set wrong?

Hi there. From the very beginning i want to appologize for my bad english, isn't my native language.

I had a 350 for several years, then a 1490 for 2 weeks (until I realized it had no disk space), and now a 2460.

My 350 had a compass icon on the map in 3D view which I liked. I can't find a way to enable this on my 2460. Sure, I can click the speed and see 1 of 8 directions I'm heading. I would like a quick glance and be able to tell I'm going ~5º E of N, not just N.

I was going to update the Walmart POI but can't seem to find it on my 255W.

I connect the garmin to my pc and opened the garmin but cannot find the Walmart file. I went ahead and downloaded the Walmart POI and now have two of them on it.

Also some of my other ones are not showing up anywhere on the garmin.

What am I missing?

With all the talk about Garmin's new 2012 GPS units, there seems to be a bargain being ignored:

This runs on an iPhone, always has the latest maps (downloads as you go via the internet), has decent reviews.

Where can I get a brief description of the file structure on my 560? I am getting quite a few "memory full" errors, and I'd like to find which files I can delete.

I have a 3790lmt. When the traffic icon changes color letting me know the condition of traffic on my route. Do I have to touch the icon to see where the problems are, or does it suppose to show me automaically from the routing screen. When in traffic I don't have time to be touching the screen to see where all the problems are. I see a crash in the making.

Costco has the 3790 LMT for $299.99

I had my new Nuvi 3760t all loaded up with POIs and routes and it slipped out of my hand less than half-way through my 6,000 mile road trip. The glass is not recessed or has any protection to it, and it fell, apparantly, glass-side down.

Need some help, I downloaded the latest Garmin POI Loader and then up dated some of my POI's. The loader will not load WAV files and does not convert WAVs tp MP3s. My Garmin 1340 does not accept MP3s.
Is it possible to download the earlier version of the POI Loader and where do I go to get It?

Has anyone tinkered with or successfully modified hardware inside your Garmin?

Has anyone figured out yet how to enable voice alerts (wav files) in the Custom POI's for the 3790T?
I just get a (Garmin) "pinging" sound.

My 760 and 765t are almost useless for off-road/hiking
usage.

Are any of Garmin's newer models well-suited for such use?

Is the wed updater download program different from the Garmin communicator used to register new devices? Thanks
