Does your vehicle have OBDII?

Does your vehicle have OBDII?

Did you?

First question is "did you plug in your Ecoroute HD plugin into your cars OBD socket "under the dash in most cars" Then turn on car in park and your GPS and then under tools hit Ecoroute and it will ask you to set it up. Once done, the only thing you have to do is put in the cost of the gas.
The only cars this does not work on is
1996 Dodge Intrepid
2000 Ford F350 7.3L Turbo Diesel
2003 and 2004 Subaru Forester
All Renault vehicles
2006 Jeep Liberty Diesel Model
2004 Mini Cooper S
To get a hard report one has to hook up the GPS to the computer and in your Garmin file there should be a folder reports and in it should be mileage.csv .

OBD-II

This page has some useful info regarding OBD-II.

I missed a step

I forgot to mention that after one has the ecoroute screen on the GPS, at the bottom it should say HD Connection . Press it and the screen will change to ecoroute HD accessory is not connected and at the bottom is Drop and Connect. This is if you want to change the HD plug to another car you would drop and then Connect to the other car. As a first time user you would press connect.

Also, don't forget (like I

Also, don't forget (like I did) that the last step to save your vehicle connection info is to turn the car off, then back on. Do this after everything is working properly. This apparently writes the connection info to the HD's memory. If you don't do this, the next time you turn on your GPS, you will have to set it up again.
This is actually stated in the manual as step 8, and I missed it.
