Is there a website that has map symbols that we can add to our GPSr instead of having to create them?

I installed and removed Communicator 4 times because the Test Page said that it wasn't detected, both in Explorer and Firefox. I deleted it and downloaded it again from Explorer and installed it. Yet, it still says that it is not detected. Garmin's typical "extensive" documentation doesn't reveal a clue as to what to do. Does anybody have any ideas.

i am trying to help out a friend with his nuvi 200 because he does not have any of the southern states, eg. florida, georgia, texas. can someone tell me why that would be and what i can do to get them.

When it gets to 99% complete, tells me either the drive is full (It's not it has over 20 GB left) or I don't have permission to write to the drive (I'm on XP and am the only user listed, and have administrator rights). I've tried downloading in IE 6 and Firefox 2.

I have a Nuvi 250 and i am having problems with the vehicles. i had hooked it up to my computer, loaded some more vehicles on it and it replaced the blue arrow that you start with when you first get it. so now when i am trying to change my vehicle on the nuvi it freezes and does not allow me to do anything other than turn it off. any suggestions on what i should do.

Just got a Garmin C550 and I love it. Been playing with the POI files and the Vehicle Icons. Since I operate a Saltwater Fish Store and do outside service Maintenance from my Ford Van I'd lile to add two things.

1) a Fish for a vehicle like maybe a clownfish.

2) a POI for all Saltwater fish stores maybe in the US or at least Florida.

An amusing story that might remind someone not to make a similar mistake (and also the reason I want the nuvi to figure out by speed when I am clearly not a pedestrian).

Has anyone tried firmare 2.70 that came out a month ago? I installed it this weekend and I finally have an update that fixed my bluetooth issues with my Blackberry. It is definitely worth trying especially if you are having bluetooth challenges.

According to a Newsgroup posting, the Nüvi 260W supports the Garmin 'USB GPS' Mode, as well as mass-storage mode.

In this mode, programs such as NRoute and XImage are supported. Mapsource, POI Loader & the Garmin Communicator plug-in are as well - the advantage being that you don't need to keep rebooting the Nüvi, if you are going through an "Edit/Download/Test" cycle.

We are going on a cruise out of Florida, I would like bring my GPS with me. We will be going to Aruba, Turks,and the Bahamas. I have a AC charger, so charging would not be a problem. Has anyone brought their GPS with them on a cruise? Am I better off just to leave it home?

It builds the indexes and then sits at 100%
Doesn't do anything else how do I fix this any idea's anyone?

Using the help file in the POI Loader program I am unable to get my POI files to give me the sort of proximity alerts I want.

Suppose I have a file called Pacific Pride.csv and another called Rest Areas.csv. Niether has any “@xx” in any fields but only longitude, latitude, name, comments and such fields.

This is a follow-up to a previous post. I just upgraded to a Nuvi 760 from a Nuvi 650 and have noticed that the 760 will not display any of the internal POIs while driving, only my custom POIs will display. When viewing the map in browse mode they display fine but disappear again when I switch back to Map mode. (I know about 2D, and being zoomed in and all that.)

Anyone seen this: I enter my home phone number into my home preferences. If I subsequently try to call it, it truncates the number so the call is not completed... If I open the home prefs, the complete number is there...

Does anyone know how to let Garmin know about outdated POIs?

I've come across a few outdated "built in" POIs, and I think I should let Garmin know, but don't know how to go about it.

Just to make sure, I don't mean POIs maintained here at the POI-factory, but the ones that are included out of the box.

Some of these seem to be a few years outdated.

I'm new to this site and I'm interested in using POIs to locate things like National Landmarks and Monuments. I really haven't messed much with POIs but can see it's potential. What I would like to know is whether or not there is any way to actually see the POIs on a program such as Mapsource?

Just bought my garmin 660. I bought TomTom 720 last month and returned it for little bugs here and there with the software and the navigation directions had issues on some of the addresses i gave it. However, Garmin has excellent directions but when it comes to the software, it falls short.

For example
