Garmin talk

Has anyone tried firmare 2.70 that came out a month ago? I installed it this weekend and I finally have an update that fixed my bluetooth issues with my Blackberry. It is definitely worth trying especially if you are having bluetooth challenges.

According to a Newsgroup posting, the Nüvi 260W supports the Garmin 'USB GPS' Mode, as well as mass-storage mode.

In this mode, programs such as NRoute and XImage are supported. Mapsource, POI Loader & the Garmin Communicator plug-in are as well - the advantage being that you don't need to keep rebooting the Nüvi, if you are going through an "Edit/Download/Test" cycle.

We are going on a cruise out of Florida, I would like bring my GPS with me. We will be going to Aruba, Turks,and the Bahamas. I have a AC charger, so charging would not be a problem. Has anyone brought their GPS with them on a cruise? Am I better off just to leave it home?

I'm trying to send maps to SD Card using mapsource

It builds the indexes and then sits at 100%
Doesn't do anything else how do I fix this any idea's anyone?

Using the help file in the POI Loader program I am unable to get my POI files to give me the sort of proximity alerts I want.

Suppose I have a file called Pacific Pride.csv and another called Rest Areas.csv. Niether has any “@xx” in any fields but only longitude, latitude, name, comments and such fields.

This is a follow-up to a previous post. I just upgraded to a Nuvi 760 from a Nuvi 650 and have noticed that the 760 will not display any of the internal POIs while driving, only my custom POIs will display. When viewing the map in browse mode they display fine but disappear again when I switch back to Map mode. (I know about 2D, and being zoomed in and all that.)

Anyone seen this: I enter my home phone number into my home preferences. If I subsequently try to call it, it truncates the number so the call is not completed... If I open the home prefs, the complete number is there...

Does anyone know how to let Garmin know about outdated POIs?

I've come across a few outdated "built in" POIs, and I think I should let Garmin know, but don't know how to go about it.

Just to make sure, I don't mean POIs maintained here at the POI-factory, but the ones that are included out of the box.

Some of these seem to be a few years outdated.

Hello all,
I'm new to this site and I'm interested in using POIs to locate things like National Landmarks and Monuments. I really haven't messed much with POIs but can see it's potential. What I would like to know is whether or not there is any way to actually see the POIs on a program such as Mapsource?

Just bought my garmin 660. I bought TomTom 720 last month and returned it for little bugs here and there with the software and the navigation directions had issues on some of the addresses i gave it. However, Garmin has excellent directions but when it comes to the software, it falls short.

Well, I've found my first dispute with MapSource and my Nuvi 260 routing software. Trying to set up a route from Ft. Myers FL to Denver CO, both refuse to drive I-70 from St. Louis to Denver, which is both the shortest and the fastest way. Even when I try to set up waypoints, as soon as possible, both systems immediately jump off the freeway on to state highways.

Where should I copy the bmp file to make it show up in the icon list?

does anyone know what ctegorie Wal- mart is under on a C330

i have read mxed answers on how this works, are poi's direction of travel specific? and if so, do i need to do anything to specify this in my poi files?

I recently bought a Garmin Nuvi 350 to compliment my GPSmap60CSx
used in walking and hiking. The reviews of the 350 looked good
and I liked the feature of being able to set up Custom POIs to
give alerts for things like scenic points, cameras and so on. I
made a test .csv file for a POI point nearby set up to respond
to approaching within a prescribed distance and downloaded it

I was driving in Miami and when I had to turn on State Road A1A my Nuvi 770 said "Turn right on SENIOR" A1A".

I'm pretty sure that I have heard Jill say "State road" many times. I think that it is down to the capitals: Normally the text shows stateroads as "SR8". In this case, the state road was indicated as "SrA1A". Anyone else heard Jill say "Senior" instead of "State Road"?
