Garmin talk

Hello Everbody,

First post here, so go easy on me. I have uploaded a few Mapsource files from my laptop onto my Nuvi, but I can't find them on the unit itself, I can't even find a place on the Nuvi to access these files. Am I doing something wrong or is this just not possible on the Nuvi?
I have successfully uploaded several POI's and am getting familier with those, but can't find the maps.

Just received my Garmin 2009 update DVD, can I update my two garmin gps device whit it, I have a nuivi 350 and just got a Zumo 550 for the bike .Do want to put both devices up to date .

I'm trying to convert gpi file to gpx file so i can us it with mapsource. Any one knows how to do this. I have read a lot of stuf on this site but have not seen any thing to help so far.

all the sounds that i try to download come on the player in fast speed sound like the chip monks sounded.

what am i doing wrong?

And today I recieved my Nuvi 770 via UPS. I hope I wont have those dang three lightening bolts that would never go away on my 680's. I figure after waiting over 8 months for them to fix the problem they can have it back. Im most impressed with Customer Service, but not all that impressed with the software Dept of Garmin.

i have recently submitted a question to Garmin's support asking them about all the serial numbers and unlock numbers on my product page there when I login to my account. I have no idea what to do with these numbers especially the mapsource one since my garmin didn't come with mapsource software, so I have no idea what to use that for.

ok, when i use the loader to put poi on my c530 if i do manual mode it doesnt load all of my poi, if i do it in the exspress mode it does??

and zoomed in to my neighborhood. My name is listed at the location of my home. So I figure it has something to do with cookies, java cookies, or the Garmin software that I have on my PC.

I am planning on buying the 2009NT map update DVD for my Dad's Garmin C340. Is the update procedure similar to the Nuvi series? When I connect the C340 to my computer, it is not recognized as a Mass Storage Device (it does not show up as any drive under My Computer).

Anyone know if they have plans on including spoken street names in an upcoming release of Mobile XT?

I have 2 Garmin GPS that are effected by the hybrid and I am wondering if other GPS companies are also having the same problems. Are Prius hybrids also a problem or only the Camry?

There is a new update available for the C330.

Garmin’s routing of the following route is very baffling. As you approach My Street on Riggs road from Phoenix both my nuvi 750 and MapSource miss the left hand turns on Price, then Lakewood, then Dobson and finally turns left on Glenburn. This adds over 2 miles to the route. There are no turns or other restrictions on these roads.

I inserted a route on my C340 from home in Surprise, AZ to the south rim of the Grand Canyon.
Getting started early in the am the traffic was bad so I took another way to I17 northbound to miss the traffic. This brought me maybe 20 miles north from the original entrance to I17N.

i have just ordered a copy of the 2008 maps.
it said 4-6 weeks deliver does it take that long.

when I download POI's to a folder and then install them to my nuvi. the installer says they were successfully uploaded. when I unplug my nuvi, it starts up and tells me I have new uploads to install and I say o.k. It then says they were successfully installed but when I go to extras/custom POIs I see nothing. What's going on? Can anyone help?

Greetings. Frequent lurker, first time poster. I'm a new Garmin user (650) and am planning my first long distance trip. I have used a couple of your POI files. For my trip I don't want to use the proposed route that my Garmin is suggesting. How to I map out an alternate route?

I have favorite poi from a planned trip to Orlando showing up on my home location in Canada around my car icon in max zoom. It looks like my car is surrounded by small black dots. That can't be normal or is it? The Icons are sort of useless anyway since you have to use a stylus to be able to activate them and they don't show shopping centers but one individual store in that ctr.

I would like to start a POI list for Buffalo Wings. I know that we all have heard of Hooters Wings, but their are many local places the make outstanding wings. Sandwich and pizza stores are a great locations for Wings. I belive that I can do this, but on a small scale to start. This will be my first try. I would like to start on the East Coast section of the U.S. Then expand it later.
