I've just returned my 3rd Nuvi 680

And today I recieved my Nuvi 770 via UPS. I hope I wont have those dang three lightening bolts that would never go away on my 680's. I figure after waiting over 8 months for them to fix the problem they can have it back. Im most impressed with Customer Service, but not all that impressed with the software Dept of Garmin. Two of the 680's kept freezing up along with the lightenting bolts (Flash Flood warnings from many moons ago) and the other one would not shut off. I have read about others with problems with the 680 but I've got my fingers crossed with the Nuvi 770.

You can walk a horse to water, but a pencil has to be led.

bummer

bummer to hear about your 680. Mine has been flawless after about 2 months of use. I purchase mine from costco, so returns are no issue.

Bummer

From all the talk about bad gps's I think I am glad I got the 660 if thought it won't load routes. It does everything I want.

Interesting..I also returned

Interesting..I also returned 3 680's for the same reason. Am currently on my 4th. Got mine at Costco, too. If they had had a 700 series, I would have bought it. Like to stay with Costco, because of the return policy. As soon as they have a 700 series, I'm going to take this one back, too. Although, this 680 ( I have had for about 6 months), is the first one that didn't have the dreaded lightening bolt. Actually. I have been very happy with this one but there seems to something inherently wrong with so many of these 680's. Bought the 660, also but have never had any problems with it.

I may need to rethink

I may need to rethink getting a 680 I suppose.

Careful

"Im most impressed with Customer Service, but not all that impressed with the software Dept of Garmin."

When I went critical on Garmin software I got really flamed on this board by those who think Garmin walks on water.

But I'm long past the point of trying to argue with them.
