Garmin talk

Hello- Recently I purchased a NUVI650 and I just started adding POI's. Does anyone know if you can change the header/title "Custom POIs" that appear. I would like to creat a title that states what the POIs are ie: Trails, lakes, etc...

Went on to mapquest, went to directions, put in house address, put in campground in South Dakota. Modified route, clicked send to, chose GPS. Worked fine. I did have to download the garmin communicator even though I had done so before and it worked with google.

that can be saved to the Nuvi650. I went to the Garmin site to look into Geocaching. Going in to MyGarmin and after downloading 15 geocaching sites only 8 showed up in the favorites on my 650. The 650 will hold 500 waypoints/favorites/locations. Could it be that I have maxed out the internal Garmin file for favorites/waypoints/locations? Any help will be appreciated!

is it possible to get a lifetime membership traffic for the 660? anyone know if discounts/deals exists for these?

I tried sending waypoints from Google Maps to my Nuvi 350 and it does work, but the address and phone number are missing. Also long title names get truncated.
ie (Target Stores: Store Informati) with no address or phone number?

Anyone know how to get the phone number and address appear and the title not truncated?

What I would like to do is to take my GPS 650 on a road trip with me, turn it on, and have it keep track of the roads that I've traveled, and then at the end of the day. I would like to save the file that the GPS tracked for me. Is there a way to do this?

I recently purchased a Nuvi 660, and want to know if I add new POI's onto an SD card using Garmin's POI Loader will it overwrite any of the existing POI's currently on the unit? I'm still trying to figure out how the POI's get appended. Are they simply added onto the existing ones, or are they in different files/folders?

I have the settings right...checked them a dozen times. It shows the turns on screen but announces nothing. I loaded some poi's and corrected one to reflect the actual location of our WalMart but that's all. any ideas??

If money were not an object, which one would you choose for the best all around handheld. I have Nuvi 660 for the car, but wanted something available for hunting, hiking and general travel.

Does anyone know how the POI catagory sort order is done on the Nuvi. I have a 660 and keep all my POI files (.CSVs) in one folder. Then I use POI loader to put them on an SD card. Whenever I change/update one file, that catagory now displays at the bottom of the list when put back on the Nuvi.

I've got a Nuvi 750 which I've uploaded POI's too without any problems. My son came over today with his Streetpilot c330 to which I tried to upload some POI's to his unit without any success. POI Loader couldn't find the device and when I went on Windows Explorer, I didn't see it on the file page either.

Just wondering if there's any way to specify how much of the voice prompts I want on the Garmin. Mine seems to do a little too much talking and would rather have it only talk when I get REALLY close to a turn, instead of 1 mile, .8 mile, etc. Sorry but I just got my first Garmin and am very new.

Is there a way to add custom POI's and be able to go to- Where to-Food Lodging- and do the Spell Name function to search YOUR CUSTOM POI's along with the pre loaded POI's?? I'm using an Nuvi 660.

I was snooping around on another site and they were talking about bad basemaps.Especially ones from Costco, (Nuvi 360) which is were mine came from. I searched for cities... Queens, NY and Van Nuys, CA. They can't be found. Is anyone aware of this problem. Supposedly Garmin will send a file with the new Basemap which fixes the problem.

I travel on business every week. When I get in my rental car, it often takes a very long time to get the signal lock on my Garmin C580. This is likely because it "thinks" it's in the last place it was used... often across the country. It's not unusual for it to take so long that it starts asking me about the state and date.

I called Garmin to let them know that my battery in my 5 month old GPS was only lasting 20 minutes. They had e pack just the unit up and they would fix it. O.K. That is cool, so I sent it back. When I got it yesterday, everything I had in it was gone. Master reset I presumed.

My Garmin C330 came with the 2006 map. I found many routes where the directions wanted to divert me into a fence, wrong way on one way streets, into non-existant streets and other mis-directions. They also didn't have a road mapped that was three years old, and it ran past a hospital. I loaded the 2008 map version, and couldn't find any improvement. Just Monday of this week I put in an address to a home, and ended up deep into a state park staring at a locked gate.

If you like the simplicity of maintaining your POIs in CSV files, but wish you could easily specify proximity alerts on them, please read on.

How to pull a favorite off of nuvi to convert to poi? Once again and can pull the coordinates and name but not the address or phone info. Please help a newbie.
